My all time favorite was the show on History about Jesse James's hidden gold and other treasures. That has got to be one of the most informative and accurate depictions of MDing I have ever witnessed.
I just wish that I could figure out what detector they were using to mysteriously find that hidden mason jar cache and the 5oz bar on cue. I would have done the same thing as them though when I had a great signal and wait till later to check it out!
It was a poignant and touching show. But then again, I liked the Rango scene too!

I remember the pilot for the TV series Banacek in 1972 where a detectorist finds an armored car.

Chasing cars don't no what episode but they spot a cadi convertible. when they are checking it out there is a guy in the back ground swing a MD at a park. Could be someone from the forum takes place in vegas

Their weird ectoplasm finder is actually the control box of the old RadioShack Micronta, with a kitchen hamburger flipper spatula glued onto the top! LOL
I remember sitting in the theatre watching the film and going "Hey!!" when they showed it! LOL

Saw a episode of Counting Cars a few days ago on the History channel, they spotted a car and was looking around for the owner and pointed out a guy detecting the park wondering if it was him.
Not sure if this one has been mentioned here yet, but I started watching on Netflix Streaming the TV series,The Glades, it is set in Florida. Pretty good show.
Season 1, Episode 11 is about a lost treasure ship. Thye show them using an underwater detector as well as using one to find a treasure chest in a Mango Grove swamp!

I am surprised nobody mentioned the Sopronos, in one episode the Sister of the main character uses a metal detector in the guys basement looking for a hidden stash of cash or something.
In the series "Weeds", the one kid mentions to his mom or something "hey they are selling a metal detector!", they never do show the detector though.

Found another movie on Netflix that supposedly has a metal detector in several scenes. Haven't watched it yet and the description sounds awfully strange. Right up my alley!
