No california hardly has any bugs,do have mosquitos. Man! Glad I live here
Now that is some serious business.. Good Luck with the future on that..I'm just trying to survive this whole Zika business down here!
Growing up in WV this was one of the flying teeth that we had to contend with.
Known as a deer fly. Never found anything that would deter them.
You forgot the worst of all...
Chiggers!

C'mon dude! That aint gonna work! Not even diesel fuel stops these bloodthirsty Btards!...I fell for that "Skin so Soft" mosquito repellent once back in the early 80's, it was like ringing a dinner bell at an orphans school!...
You gotta have some documentation/vids concerning this dryer sheet trick...You are obviously pulling my front tail and want another post tomorrow after I get torn up right? Thats OK...I do this all the time, giving free theoretical advice to folks..but I'm not falling for it!
I aint going back out there as your guinea pig to confirm this dryer sheet trick!! Unless its a load of dryer sheets sewed together in a full Tyvek Hazmat suit perhaps...quilted, with Kevlar in between!
I got 57yrs walking this Planet, and I'm telling you, these biting swarms of late Summer beach flies are the damndest thing I've ever seen...!

I got a chigger bite right on my belt line right now and it sucks. .
Horse flys on the left, deer flys on the right..
Deer flys always come with friends...

I was going to say you are crazy... I go to the beach with the boys all the time without any fly issues. Then last night at duck lake they attacked us with a fury. Made us leave after only a little while.
Well good, glad you got bit the hell up! I'm also glad you aint calling me a liar...you can call me crazy all day long with no hard feelings!
Stable Flies! Good call there Icescratcher! Thats EXACTLY what they are!
Hey, out of curiosity, I took a 'dryer sheet' and hit my beach this morning to do a test as recommended by Brother Beachscanner...
Unfortunately, the wind came up out of the NW and kept most of the flies pushed back into the dunes, so I was disappointed. I even banged my scoop around and hollered for them to come and attack and was met with a tepid response...
Although on the way home, I rubbed that dryer sheet under my sweaty arm pits and it made me smell fresh as a daisy!!! The girls working the counter at the beer store even commented on how refreshing I smelled compared to normal!!
