Found this in my yard today. It seems fairly detailed for it's size. I'm assuming it's part of a locket of some type due to the hinge on the back. Seems to be gold. Any idea as to the age?
I cleaned it up a bit and uploaded some new photos. It seemed to pass the 22k acid test, but my test kit is a couple years old so I don't know if its any good. The locket does have a nice yellow glow to it and the detail up close is impressive.
Thanks. I plan on head out there now. I know at least one of the 8 little balls around the ring fell off when I found it, so there might be more in the ground.
My attempt to find the other parts was "foiled"...Literally. I've been trying to find an image of a similar locket on Google to get a better idea of when it was made and how it all fit together, but haven't found anything with the same exact design. Regardless, it's too cool to scrap -- I'm sure I could have some kind of jewelry made from it
