SERIOUSLY!! Ya'll found these things. I absolutely live under a very large rock. Dang well done on these finds. MDM I love how you put the whole gun next to the parts you found. I have found two guns detecting and they both took full rolls of caps.:rofl2:

40's era cap gun. Found more remnants of other cap guns on the same property.

WOW! THAT IS AWESOME.... COULD IT BE A HENRY?
Im guessing it was probably was made local. There where a lot of Pennsylvania gun smiths back than. I looked on the brass and silver parts for a makers mark with no luck. To find a old gun is cool. But to find a old gun that exploded is over the top. There are so many possibilities of how it happen. 😃

COULDNT HAVE BEEN A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE THAT IS FOR SURE. THE GUN I DUG WAS FOUND AT AN OLD GUNSMITH SITE. THE BUTT END WAS STICKING OUT OF THE GROUND JUST A COUPLE OF FEET FROM PAVEMENT

The best I have found so far...
