dout its a design flaw or you'd hear alot more of them breaking, infact these were the only one's that i've seen cracked like that. i'm sure if it was common you'd hear alot more about it insted of all the good reviews

I have put cuts on the other side of the blade to make a double edge, and have put huge pressure on this thing several times prying up big rocks and even bigger pieces of iron.

Still straight as an arrow and no problems.

Nothing is perfect, both of these broken blades sound like a rare occurrence...I hope.

forty nine posts, but I must say that I have been know to stand on my Lesche and put full weight and leverage on it to move a rock.......lazy waste of energy caused by excessive metal detecting insanity on a long day. I have the same Lesche for 11 years now! how the heck do you break one? :?: :?: :?:

I do tend to pry a LOT with mine. I think maybe leaving it in the trunk weakened the metal when it go really cold. Also the summers here get to over 105 so maybe that's part of the problem. I'll be taking good care of my next one. Thanks again bigboar and NED!!!!

Does it take nice plugs from lawns and grass?

That does hurt to see..

There is a fiskars one that you can get at wally world for 7 bucks to hold you over till you get a new one.. I used this one till I got my lesche and my dad also uses this one. check it out.. plus there is that sale for the 20 one..do you have the link to that sale at kco?

I use this Fiskars digger. Definitely worth $7. You can see it in action bonesquat.

Maybe it's a case of not if it will break but when.
I just go cheap myself. Dig until I need another one.
But always a backup just in case.

There's a reason why you are seeing two pages+ of posts about this, it's rare. You will usually hear of more Lesche diggers lost than broken. It's hard to explain until you use one, they are as good as people say....

It's good to hear that NEDs are taking care of you, BS. See what happens when you get the etrac.... Now quit trying to dig to China....;)

Not really a design flaw but a manufacturing flaw. When you notch something like that you need to avoid corners as those points when under load become stress risers, thus the corners are radiused or rounded (a good example, ever notice how aircraft windows have rounded corners). I suspect that maybe that particular notch was not filleted quite right and after repeated loads it failed. In a factory where many copies of the same item are made things like this will happen from time to time. Machines wear, people get tired and make mistakes. Contact the company, they might be willing to replace the item.

I'll never buy a Lesche digging tool

I'll never buy a Lesche digging tool if they will not stand behind their product.

Thats an expensive tool, and should come with a life time warrenty.

the etrac is to blame!

I think the combination of rocky alabama soil and now digging holes about a foot deep the poor defective lesche couldn't handle it anymore. I can't believe how deep the etrac goes. Im considering a relic shovel.
