Just picked up 300 in Eisenhower dollars:)

You order them or something? I was just wondering about asking the bank for large dollar coins and seeing if ya got lucky.

I'm hoping to find some silver :)

I ordered them from my bank...I asked on a whim if they had any, and they said no, but that they could order them....so I had them get me 300....

I had them in my backpack....they came in a plastic bag....it was HEAVY!!!!

hopefully it will be worth it

16.5 pounds of eisenhowers. Lol

Yep...and my backpack is usually only about 8 pounds...

which ikes are silver?

1964 and earlier are 90%....I THINK 65-72 are part silver (but I don't recall)

I'm hoping for some EARLY ones....didn't see any on the outside of the bag....haven't gone through them yet....

I wonder what the odds are of there being ANY silver in there....would be interesting to know...is it 10% of the "silver" dollars out there having silver in them? 25%? 1%? Less?

Ummm - you need to google Ike dollars Bro - they were only made from 71 - 78 and only a couple years are 40% silver I believe

Note some years issued silver and non silver. The silver ones may have come only in special sets

whoops....you're right.....my bad....(ok..not my bad....I'm an idiot...I was thinking quarters)

but, they did have older silver dollars, which is what I'm going to be trying to find....

I should have stuck to halves I think :)

Hey, you never know. Before Ikes, you would be looking for silver dollars from 1935 and before (all of them are 90% silver) - none minted between 1936 and 1971 except for 1964's which were all melted

They said they could order halves too....

what dollars do you need? I can keep them aside for you

The best way to tell if you have a 40% silver Ike dollar will be by weight. The clad variety will weigh 22.68 g while the 40% silver ones will weigh 24.59 g. Only S mint marks will be silver, and they did make clad S ones also, so they can trip you up without weighing them. Let us know what you find. Good luck! : )

These are your only possibilities for Ike Silver

1971-S (all are 40% silver)
1972-S (all are 40% silver)
1973-S (some are 40% silver, some are clad)
1974-S (some are 40% silver, some are clad)
1976-S (some are 40% silver, some are clad)
