Found my first platinum item - an earring but alas, made of a platinum alloy (585). Still, better than the crap I have been finding
Considering my junk to good find ratio, I may be posting another find sometime in September I guess 585 platinum is sort of like golds' 14K rating? Earring may be worth $1 in melt valueWelcome back OZ! :spin: :tumble:

Oh great there are two scales for gold Could go either way I guess There are some silver streaks on it also - I'll have to try and get a front angle shot. Either way it is very light so not much in melt value, but again, better than the junk I have been finding, which includes 11 buttons (from the 50's?) found at a volleyball court. Only meIt looks golden on the picture. Are you sure it is not 14K gold, rated on the European fineness scale (0.585 = 14 Karats)?
