Impossible Clad Counts and Other Bogus Threads

I think if you are going to say I found this or that a picture is worth a thousand words. I don't usually talk a lot about my finds but this is 29 years of metal detecting (just the gold rings). the silver and coin well that will have to wait for another day. unfortunately it's been several years since I have been to the beach due to caregiver commitments to aging parents. But I expect to get back at it one day soon.

I average about $100 a year,I wish Americans would accept the $1 coin and carry it more often.Canadian treasure hunters I'm jealous when it comes to clad. Some of these totals seem outrageous I couldn't imagine digging ten times the holes for a $1000 in one year, not to mention ten times the holes that are junk, maybe it's possible but not in my shoes.Great post Scuba.

Last year I got around 50-60 dollars in clad, this year I got around $2 in clad. I am done going to modern parks and such, now I am a colonial woods detectorist. What's the point of faking finds, there is nothing gained except a dirty conscience.

This year 1 dug over 500.00 in clad but it as taken me 8 months to do it. mostly parks, ball fields and camp grounds. dug 2 silver 1 dime and 1 nickle 5 rings (all junk).

Hey ice I don't even want to look at yours I don't feel like getting depressed and feeling inadequate. Lol

Sorry man, but don't even think about looking at this year's if that's the case...

Although this year my clad count is way down, if that helps?

<*)))>{

Lots of good points

Can be deleted. After I re-read this reply, it ended up being too similar to my earlier one, lol. Too much coffee. Happy hunting.

Funny this topic came up. I honestly never really questioned anyone's claims nor did really care. It's interesting none the less.

My poor results I always thought were do to hunting old farms and old home sites, and not for clad in the parks or high traffic areas. Also my time to hunt seems limited. Heck I haven't found anything I deemed exciting enough or valuable enough to use as a avatar.

The funny part was I just read a thread on another forum where a guy found a cache of gold coins where he had to use both socks, a tee shirt and a car seat cover to hold all the gold coins. He then moved to Florida and bought a fancy car(82 vette, whoa) I laughed so hard I almost blew beer through my nose.

This is a picture of all the gold coins I found this year. Sorry about the duck in the picture. He popped out of the ground with a rabbit. Haven't seen them since.

I don't care if you don't believe me. .....well, maybe a little.

I spoke up and questioned the seemingly impossible finds of someone on another forum a few years back and regretted doing so when everybody jumped in at his defense , so I dont do that anymore. I wouldnt have said anything then either except this person seems to post multiple hunts per week with some crazy amount of gold rings and such and has done it for years , there comes a point where you just want to say come on man , what are the chances of having that kind of luck ?....you should be able to retire rich right now after all these years amassing what must be more gold than fort knox ever had..... finding a handfull of gold rings in seemingly every hunt , 3 or 4 times a week , for years. Thats just not how things work in metal detecting , no matter how good you are or where you hunt. Im not talking good like ice scratchers finds or a few others on here , those are believable and common ,.... Im talking what appears to be around as much gold rings as everybody on this forum combined , and then some , if the claims are true. But if someone has to be dishonest to make themself feel better on an internet forum then I guess thats part of the internet culture , just let them have their fun. They must not realize how blatantly obvious the attempted deception is in their claims. I dont understand what benefit they get from lying but it is what it is.

Hey an 82' Vette is worth at least $900! :D

I know this sounds really far fetched, but I finally got out again on Saturday and boy did I score big.

I found $1.09 in clad, a 100 peso coin, and a Bic lighter that doesn't work. I don't have any pictures of all this loot but I swear it's true.

WHAT! You found all that and you aren't gonna share it with us. Hey at least you are able to get out and find some goodies. Good going.;)

I scored a junk mood ring, half of a junk necklace and 1.28 at a old school yesterday!! Boom baby!!!

I agree with the post that spoke of location being the key. I see the post of the guys that get 200 or 300 silver coins in a year and it just blows my mind. In my area of the country this would be even harder to believe than picking up a few hundred in clad. Even though I am blown away with those numbers I still trust their posts and try to give them the props they deserve for their hard work. I don't really know why someone would want to blow their numbers up to a bunch of folks they will probably never meet in person. I guess if they are that sick and have to do that to feel adequate then so be it. I hunt or have hunted with several guys that I consider very good at what they do and that know their detectors well. I have been hunting with them when an unusually rare coin for this area pops out of the ground so I know that these things can happen but to get the silver numbers that some of the guys post on here in my opinion would be impossible in my area. Because of that fact, I have to admit that I truly enjoy a good clad hunt. I am not one that enjoys hunting for hours for a single silver even though I have participated in those hunts with friends. Give me the action of lots of targets and I am much happier and enjoy myself more. I guess if you want to call me a junk hunter or consider me less of a detectorist that you are then that's okay with me. In the past when I hunted often and for hours at a time, I always found $300 - $400 in clad per year so I find it perfectly credible for someone that finds $700-$1000 in clad a year if they have more time to hunt and have better locations than I do. No disrespect meant to anyone, just my two zincolns.

Those are my favorite posts.

Like the guy in San Antonio who was pulling out silver from the 1800's and pairs of gold earrings --- all looking like he cut and pasted Google images........... then he was gone like a fart in the wind.

I forgot about that one:lol: There was one with a bunch of google images he had posted. One day he posted getting some silver out of a wall in bank bags. Couldn't go back and get another bag. Then someone found the images he had copied:lol:
