I'm getting real close to catching that sucka!

If it's in the dry sand just send some kids out there with the BH Juniors or something they can swing and have them clean everything up. They would have a field day. Where the zincs would drive the seasoned MD'ers nuts a bunch of 5-10 years olds would be in heaven finding them with every swing. Who knows, may even find something good and have a hobby for life.

If someone I know see's me in the dry sand, they ask me if I'm feeling well. Walking in thick dry sand down here will wear you out. Wetsand is like walking down a sidewalk:lol:

Could it be someone who lives close by that thinks they own the beach? Any local residents/dog walkers make comments to you?

Your wife is not mad at you, is she?

We got a couple of those. I was thinking about joining a detecting club. Then I ran into a guy I know who dropped out. He showed me a couple guys to watch out for. Damned if he wasn't joking:no: One guy will jump right in front of your grid and cut you off. He used to wouldn't talk at all. Now he asks what you found and looks at it and just walks off. If he see's you there at 4 a:m you can bet he'll get there at 3 a:m the next time. I need my beauty rest.

Ok, seriously, so I'm still trying to wrap my head around just why anyone would do that... I mean, aside from wanting to be a pain in the neck... Is he just seeding beaches he doesn't detect, or trying to mess up other guys on a beach he wants to himself (which seems self-defeating), or what... I mean, what the heck?

A Cherry picker who only digs low tones could seed a beach for a hunter who digs it all... where I hunt its not another hunter who seeding the beaches... its the homeowners who think they own the beach front... :D

I know who it is and the sad thing is he a member of a metal detecting club in Jacksonville. They are called the "Historical Recovery Association of North Florida. Sad to say he detects. Not everyone who does is ethical. What goes around comes around. It will come back on him one day. It always does. Do bad you get bad. Karma is one bad a$$ that bites.

Not trying to call you a liar or anything, but if you know who he is (and have solid proof?) why not confront him at a meeting publicly to crucify him? I would hope that once everyone knew this, and he was humiliated in public, it would teach him a lesson. HH

Keep going a little earlier each time until he starts getting there about 1:30-2:00 just to screw with him. After that, show up occasionally just before he gets there and when he does just go back home and get some sleep. Let him be the tired one the next day.:laughing:

Yeah that same thing Is going on here. But this guy cuts all his pennies in halfs and in quarter pieces. Talk about chasing and finding that target. It really is Inconsiderate and Irritating to say the least.

Appears to be real bad in Fl. Wasn't any better fishing. I used to commercial fish. One day we saw some row mullet and casted our nets on them in open water. Another boat came across the water and rammed us and told us to get the hell out of there. We dumped all the fish out and left before we got shot. Had an old neighbor of mine shoot someone in the stomach over where they put their crab traps. Detecting isn't quite as bad:lol:

 We have someone out here who likes to toss hundreds or thousands of zinc pennies to mess you up. Their calling card is all zinc pennies with the shield backs. During winter there is no other reason for hundreds or thousands of new pennies to be spread all over, since nobody is swimming or surfing. Haven't figured out if they're after me personally or what? But I know a pirate has several methods to handle problems. They might have to pick up their pants, underwear and car keys at a lifeguard station if they get caught. Might get in trouble going old school and burying them up to their neck at low tide:laughing: I took a picture of one of the penny's laying on the ground. Dug 40 to show you what I mean. And quit counting pennies at 200 on my CTX screen after I had to quit using my Excalibur because some moron doesn't have a life:mad: I"M GONNA CATCH YOU SUCKA!!!!!!!

I hear ya Larry,,,,,I hit an out of the way spot near me last week and I know it was seeded with pennies,,,,the nice thing is that with my excal, I can tell the zinc penny and pass it by, the copper ones though are another story, they don't have the same unique sound the zinc ones do, BUT, at least I have not seen bbs like scuba is saying, no way you would be able to tell them and they would fall out of the scoop too,,,,,;)I joked with Dew that I am coming down his way and going to toss 5,000 bbs in the water, but I know if I do, he will be where I hunt every day,,,:laughing:JK Dew,,,,GL HH

This is a universal problem which only varies with the location and the hobby. In genealogy the same sort of people jam up the search engines with invented people and altered family trees. Our prime search area is the Old Fort Steilacoom site but it too has been salted with Corona Beer caps, each with the persons initials written on them in magic marker. The parks are salted with zincs scattered by the MDing clubs and, while it is spendable clad, it is really disheartening to leave a otherwise great area after a hour searching with nothing but a pocket full of painted, numbered pennies which can't even be counted as a valid find.

Wow, that's pretty low on a geneology site. "People" like that don't deserve to interact with normal society.

I hear Burger King still has 50 cent ice cream cones.:D

 This is January's zincs on the left so far. Gonna finish soaking them in water, toss them in a 5 gallon bucket. Then when I catch who is doing it i might seed someones front lawn:laughing:

I was told about him, and have found those pieces myself also.

Just a thought, but if you can video him dumping stuff on the beach you can have him charged with littering. Cops and prosecutors tend to act on video evidence and most city and state officials take a VERY protective stand on their beaches when it comes to trashing them out.

Doesn't preclude you beating the !!!! out of him later if you want either.

Be better to post their face on a few detecting forums. Litterbugs only get charged $250 out here. But you rarely even hear about that being enforced. Don't think $250 will bother whoever this is since they are probably tossing more than that in pennies.

First step would be to catch him in the act... then drag his name through the mud on the forums and local detecting clubs.
