If you were able to custom build your own Metal Detector...

Thought id posted my comment yesterday but it didnt come out.

My ideas would be to first have a three stage coil that you can pull up like one of those fall flat bowls, each coil would have a different size in the same mhz and then another one you can detatch that would have lower mhz and another higher mhz.

This would let you switch on the fly and still get close to objects with a 4", 8" and 12" stage coil.

The next would be a 5 second camcorder on an removable thumbdrive so you can photo in place your find giving both the time, date and gps details.

Lastly a built in stand for when you lie it down...a telescopic stand would be good for carrying then pulling out like an umberella before you scan..only about 4" long but enough to stop it falling over when sat down.

Nothing impossible but still nice to have

oh..just thought of another...a sprayer that wopuld mark the pinpointed place so you could move on and leave another to dig....could be filled with chalk or even luminescent paint to work in the dark.....two hands are better then one

One that,after the target is located,has something like a throttle in the handle that can spin the coil into somewhat of a hole-hog and dig your plug,kind of like the Tazmanian Devil,complete with sound effects.....

A small remote control F75 LTD on an all-terrain platform. Go to the hunting grounds, program in the grid you want it to run, or just steer it with the joystick...turn it on and let it go, sit back...and when it detects a probable silver, it alerts you, marks the spot, then continues on...and you go dig when you feel like getting up...Until then, I'm pretty happy with the one I'm using now.

close to mine but mine would also dig the target. i would just need to turn it on and go watch the game and eat pizza

To keep it in my price range I'll stick with my f2 and add a back lit screen, built in battery charger, and water proof it. I think thats pretty reasonable!
