Thought id posted my comment yesterday but it didnt come out.
My ideas would be to first have a three stage coil that you can pull up like one of those fall flat bowls, each coil would have a different size in the same mhz and then another one you can detatch that would have lower mhz and another higher mhz.
This would let you switch on the fly and still get close to objects with a 4", 8" and 12" stage coil.
The next would be a 5 second camcorder on an removable thumbdrive so you can photo in place your find giving both the time, date and gps details.
Lastly a built in stand for when you lie it down...a telescopic stand would be good for carrying then pulling out like an umberella before you scan..only about 4" long but enough to stop it falling over when sat down.
Nothing impossible but still nice to have
oh..just thought of another...a sprayer that wopuld mark the pinpointed place so you could move on and leave another to dig....could be filled with chalk or even luminescent paint to work in the dark.....two hands are better then one
