If Hurricane Irene hits....

We already had our earthquake this week. I know we east coasters are wimps when it come to quakes, but gotta tell you, sitting out, even a moderate quake, atop a 40 story office tower, no fun!!!!!

I'll take the hurricane and it looks like I'm gonna get it. As Craig says, not good!!!

I'd wait to see the effect of the storm. Last major hurricane to hit the banks did so much damage the banks were off limits for about a week or so after. Or at least parts were.

I'll take a hurricane over an earthquake. You know there is a hurricane coming for a week,an earthquake you know about when it's happening.Too late!!

Ya, but with an earthquake, I take 10 steps to get out my front door, and i'm safe :D I refuse to work in a tall building though... cause you are screwed, as Sultan said.

I remember that wave action is immense even weeks after a major hurricane has passed the Jersey Shore.

Drop your detector and pick up a chain saw

I live in Delaware and as of right now Irene's path looks to be dead at us. Supposedly as a possible Cat 3 hurricane. I am asking all of you experienced beach hunters what to look for after the storm.

If it's a Cat 3? Your house.

If you happen to be home!!! How about the people on that highway that collapsed on top their cars or the car that drove off of the upper level of the Oakland Bay bridge,I can still see that video in my head of the car going over the edge.A hurricane can be really bad but at least you have a warning way ahead of time.An earthquake sneaks up on you.A hurricane is sort of like when the class bully says he is going to beat you up after class, you can sneak out the back door, an earthquake is like a bus hitting you while you are looking the wrong way.Just my East Coast opinion.

With the quake, being in a tall building in an office canyon rimmed with tall buildings the safest place to stay is in the building. Then I thought " Hmm, I know of 3000 people, who, if they were still with us, would disagree with that advice". Those who stayed, paid. So, out I went. The streets were filled with thousand of people who thought likewise. Interestingly, there was no mandatory evacuation.

This storm will hit over the weekend, but we are still prepping for no biz on for the first of nxt week.

Unfortunately, there may be many non beach houses on the beach.

I was going to go down to my house for the storm so I could hunt after but it looks like it's going to be pretty bad and I don't want to be stuck down there with no power, food, or water. I might head down Monday or Tues and hunt. You should be fine Friday, the storm won't be near us yet.

Storms don't always strip sand from the beach. I was looking at the surf action for Cocoa, and it looks like the storm is driving the surf inland. That should be depositing sand unless the the back edge rips it back off right?

If the storm takes the track they are showing now, I don't think you will be able to get on the beaches until Weds. If there are any beaches left to hunt. It sounds like it's really going to be bad. I was going to try and go Friday, but I think they are going to start evacuating Friday.

I totally agree. They are evacuating the area now. It will be a while after the storm before visitors will be allowed in. Since the damage could be severe, it could be quite a while before you could access the beach. Also after a storm this big, there is a lot of wood and household items washing up on the beach. You would do just as well in a few weeks after the storm.

Yeah, there might not even be a beach left. I'm getting myself all worked up over this. Just the waiting to see if Monday will be the day I can hunt the beach.:crying:
