I Should Open a Tackle Shop...

We should have a post your sinker post....:D

Right now I have about 60 pounds of lead saved from this area this year... I even have sections of old lead pipes that people had in their homes I am guessing...

Now I have to head for JFK to pick up my wife coming back from Colombia... my vacation is over :D Last look at Flight Tracker had her over the outer banks...

I think the oldest sinkers I have found were poured into a teaspoon or tablespoon as a mold with a hole drilled/pounded into them...

<*)))>{

You could maybe date the mold they came from but in most cases most of the molds ever made are still being used by folks..

I have a bunch of those molds, some date back into the 1920s and 30s...

<*)))>{

Very interesting! Can you post a pic or 2? I've actually never seen the molds.

You know its not looking good when you havent found a sinker in a month of Sundays. Seeding..... thats when i wished we only had dollar coins. Id like to see how generous theyd be with them.:laughing: Ive had people do that to me then ask me why i didnt find the pennies..... i told them my machine is only tuned to $20 bills.:lol:

Dew

I failed to mention I was hunting in front of a house... the lady of the house came to the waters edge while I was in thigh deep water and proceeded to seed right in front of me :roll: brand new shiny pennies... I moved in for the kill and picked up 3 thanking her for her donation :lol: she didn't laugh...

Talk about nasty, she has a habit of doing that in front of her house. That must really tick her off when it doesn't seem to deter us. At least Bruce can pass on the new ones using his meter.

I spotted at least a dozen shiny new zincolns laying there in the shallow water, and ran over several dozen more that the meter id'd...it's not a deterrent to me, but it can be a pita to deal with at times. I keep hunting there just to annoy the snot out of the natives:lol:...I gathered some lead for your collection Craig, I'll bring it on the next hunt for you:laughing:

Nice lead count Craig.....:shock: You find more of those bathing caps snaps than anyone I've seen. See ya Labor day........:yes:

I don't know why these people get annoyed with us picking up all the garbage from the surf. Don't they realize how much lead we pull out that can harm marine life? They must just be bitter about life.....:grin:

That sure is alot of sinkers!

That lead sure rings in nice tones. A little different inland though with lead connectors, slugs and pipe. There's bound to be more goodies around there for next time. HH

Don't laugh. But a guy out here bought my CTX for me in zinc pennies. Forgot and soaked these a bit too long. But all you got to do is dry tumble them with some copper and then slide across a dry towel and drop in your banks coin machine. The towel takes the dust off. If you use water they corrode again overnite. I call it seeding my bank account:lol:

Those are some nasty looking coins Larry.....:yes:

A lot of them looked pretty new. But I put them in an aluminum cake pan and forgot them in the rain a couple weeks. You know how fast a zinc penny rots when it touched salt water:lol:

You should take that picture down Larry... Felix will be salivating over all those pennies...:lol:

:laughing: It's good to know that there are like-minded individuals out there that see the value of money! :p

I actually got a good idea for the zinc's that I clean up that are pretty bad and I don't want to run through the bank's machine - I'm going to roll them up and pay the toll so I can find more!

You have to dig all the shallow targets in case they are masking the deep gold... in my case deep lead :laughing:
