I bought a CTX 3030 - I don't understand the beach

I have been hunting three local beaches for over three years. Some times I think I know a little bit about hunting a beach and then I will just luck out and get the coil over something nice in the most unexpected place.

Don't despair. Keep swinging the coil and sooner or later you will get lucky.

Plenty of good advice here.......I will add that I need to know that heavy targets are in range so I dig "exploration" holes every now and then to see the sand make-up. I need to see some heavier material that will support/stop a nice gold ring from sinking past the 12" mark....so this includes coarser sand or shells. If it is all sugary sand then I move on as all that is left is pull tabs.....or a very recent drop.
