Got out nice and early today but still had to fight the 90 degree heat which wasn't much fun. I decide I was gonna hit two different schools that were out a ways. I went to the first school and through research I found that the entire sports areas were built over parts of an old village. I decided I was gonna work a big loop around the outskirts of the soccer fields first. As I started to move along the trees I noticed a few very old rock walls in the woods. I proceeded in the field area about a foot out from the tree line. On my fourth target I got a nice crisp 93-95 on the At Pro. I was thinking either a nice silver ring or a couple of quarters stacked. I dig my plug about 4 " deep flip it over and nothing. I stick the pin pointer in there and signal is still in the hole. I dug down about a total of 6" and start to clear the soil out and I see a big round disc. I was now thinking it was one of those heads/tails large soccer coins. I reached in and pulled it out and was amazed I saw 1889. It was my second MORGAN DOLLAR I have ever found. I found the first about 2 years ago. This simply made my entire day. I do not go out in search of older coins as I enjoy the modern clad and jewelry. I have found my fair share of older and something like this is really outstanding. Yes I did mark the back with the lesche digging her out.

After finding this I thought maybe I should move a little slower and did just that. I spent about 5hrs out today and gathered up $7.41 in clad a .925 earring and a couple of pieces of a junk bracelet and a junk chain. I never did make it to the second school which was ok with me with the heat. Finding the Morgan was just as fun as digging a nice gold ring...Hope all had a successful weekend...HH !

Congrats on another surprise find. Although your not targeting older coins you do have a uncanny way of coming up with some very nice oldies. Hat's off Andy on you second Morgan recovery. Jack

Is it me or does she look like she has stitches on her cheek?

Thanks Jack...I must say the old ones I`ve found are some good ones. Its a nice surprise when you`re not expecting it.

Nectar....I just took my loop and looked close. Sure enough they are there..who, why or at what point in time somebody would do this is beyond me. I`ll still take the big silver...hell look at the birth mark I put on the back of the coin....it`s all good

Congrats on your second Morgan Dollar!
