How do you clean those crusty black 10K class rings?

Throw it in a plastic bowl of water and add muriatic acid until it starts lightly bubbling, should clean up alot easier. Where i am muriatic is in every supermarket (not super strong stuff) and is used as a cleaning product for lime buildup because the water is so hard...

I've had silver come out of the ocean black as the ace of spades and tumbling and soaking in vinegar did nothing. Soooo... on that note doing a little kitchen chemistry worked wonders.

1. Line a ceramic bowl (on that can take hot water) with aluminum foil.
2. Dump in a TBL of Salt and a TBL of Baking soda each.
3. Add hot water (boil the water in a microwave) and stir.
4. Add the item in question (ring bracelet ect) wait a few minutes.
5. Repeat as necessary.

Never did this on gold but worked like a charm on a couple silver bracelets I've found that were so blacken nothing else worked.

The aluminum gives a place for the tarnish to go other than the ring. The salt and baking soda are the electrolytes and the hot water speeds up the process.

Let us know if you try this and how it works.

 Who rattled your 10K chain

Not just posting about 10K but 10K GR

When I see a post from 18k, I just KNOW some good eye candy is gonna be involved. H3ll, I recall a time when you banned yourself until you found some 18k. And now... YOU... asking questions about cleaning 10k? Me thinks there must be a biblical reference to the coming apocalypse somewhere in there. :D

Thanks Numil, what you said is how I cleaned it. I use that on lightly tarnished silver and it works great there too. Good write up brother
