Hi all,

Just joined the forum and wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Tony and I'm from Hunterdon County, New Jersey. I'm also new to the hobby and looking forward to learning from all of you, and having some interesting forum discussions. I've wanted to get into metal detecting since I was a little kid... I remember being as young as 7 years old sitting on the beach and watching people detecting in the late afternoons/early evenings and thinking that it was the coolest thing ever. Well, 40 years later I'm finally getting into it! I'm getting my first metal detector today... a Minelab Equinox 600, after doing a lot of research and reading. I can't wait to get out and start using it. Hopefully I'll also find some members that are local and would like to hunt together.

I look forward to talking with all of you on the forums!

Thanks,
Tony

Greetings Tony, from Colorado. Another newb, and fellow diver. Watch out for ScubaDetector, he'll wisper in your ear about doing both at the same time! Now, I'm looking for a waterproof model!:D

Welcome from Southern Indiana, and thanks for doing a proper introduction! I'm the same in I remember in the late 80s-early-90s seeing a guy at the campgrounds our family was staying at for vacation with an early Whites machine and getting told by mom "Quit staring, it's rude". I couldn't explain to her it was anything but rude...it was awe...I was amazed at the thought. "Hearing metal, in the ground, in my headphones?"

Glad you found us and HH! :aok:

Oh yeah, now we're talking... I think it's only a matter of time until I'll want to get into that too. I used to dive the wrecks heavily off the coast of NJ, but not as much anymore. Now it's mostly in warmer climates and I don't get to those climates as much as I would like.

Welcome from the White Mountains of NH. Hope the weather in NJ is better than it is up here

Let me just save you some heart ache.

I am looking out for you here. Other wise you will be starring outside during work hours, saying I could be detecting and not getting anything done at work. You will be driving around saying to yourself that looks like a good spot to go and stopping to investigate further, always late to get someplace. You will be trying to get out of plans with family so you can go out.

And with beaches calling you, you will be a mess. Buddy I am just trying to warn you. Just ship that machine to me, don't even bother to open up the box.:laughing:

welcome and have fun.
