Help with Token ID

My Dad found this metal detecting in the late 70's. I found it recently in my moms house. A little bigger than a penny, made of copper and the back is smooth, no details. Y'all ever seen anything like it?

I agree with the tavern token. Heck back when it was being used, a beer was probably a nickel.

That is an antique Dollar General token. In those times, it was referred to as "Dollar & General" cool token!
