Got a LOT of history and a Bit of Silver

That’s a beauty, nice job

Good writeup on the sterling Silver WWII award medal. I would add that : After WWII (or possibly Korea ?) the USA stopped issuing military award medals in silver. Starting in the cold war era, and through Vietnam to the present : They are in cheap copper and enamel .

Oh well, at least our "greatest generation" got respect !

Thanks Tom, I have found several pre-1950s silver badges/rank, etc (especially in Hawaii). I think they started to phase out silver at the end of the 40s as "issued" items but you can still purchase silver rank and military badges for "special" uniform configurations (cost to outfit everything in 18k gold braid, silver rank/badges quickly becomes cost prohibitive). Quick story, my son attended CDQC (combat divers course) this last summer and I purchased a Sterling Diver's "Bubble" badge in the event he successfully passed the course. I was only able to find the badge in silver from one retailer that specializes in silver military badges.

Regardless, THANK YOU TOM.

It's always cool to unearth something attributed to an association, institution, or business, etc., that is no more, or evolved into something else. I like those kind of finds, and usually learn something from them.
Digging a sterling military medal, though, I have not experienced yet. I call that an awesome bucketlister!

I really liked the luggage fob, even more was the research as to what "the heck it was"!

Cool piece of silver and nice fob.
