So, I've always preferred relic/artifact hunting over beach hunting; however, I live 10 minutes from the ocean, and without permissions (which I'm very shy to ask for), I'm limited to junky public parks, which gets old quickly. My husband and son are die-hard beach detectorists, and seeing the steady flow of silver and gold they found this summer, I decided to give beach detecting another try. Last Wednesday was the only non-rainy day we had so I went by myself to a local beach at low tide. After abt 2 hours I was feeling discouraged, having found 3 dimes and a few pennies, and a bunch of targets that eluded me despite back-breaking digging/crouching/pinpointing! I was about to leave, but walked a little further down the shoreline where the sand shelf wasn't as high to make it easier to climb back up.

I kept swinging as I walked of course, and then....found this beauty. It was actually in a hole with a tent stake right underneath it, so the numbers were not even that exciting.

So, bottom line is, I'm pretty sure this is an imitation Cartier based on some online research. But I took it to a jeweler to test what it was made of, and lo and behold, it's real gold. I didn't ask them for an appraisal (they would've charged me), just to test it, but I was pretty shocked when they said "It's Gold". I thanked them and quickly left with my jaw hanging opened!

My question is--what do you guys suggest is the best way to maximize my profit on this. Should I sell it for the melt value? Or, should I pay for an appraisal, and try to sell it on my own? I'm not really sure if imitation/replica bracelets made of real gold have a resale value. I don't know if the diamonds are real. I could really use the $$ and am not sure how to handle this. Thanks in advance!!

E bay can get it sold but I refuse to give my soc sec # to them or PayPal or anyone.
Craigs list? But that can be risky and difficult to sell due to cheap skates.

Jewelry appraisals are usually valued for insurance purposes so the appraised value will usually be higher than what you can probably get for it. Having said that, it is a data point.

Ty!

Had a friend sell one just like that on OfferUp. He got $900 for it. Way higher than the melt. Setting up an account is easy and no fees. But I choose to meet everyone in public and do not choose the delivery/shipping option to avoid scams. I would meet in a public area. For you , maybe take someone along as it's a high $ item.

That doesn't look like a fake to me... candidly, I think you might have the real deal. Real 4-diamond bracelets like this retail for about $12K. It's worth taking to a cartier dealer to have it confirmed. They'll do it for free.

They sell on the aftermarket for between $5,000 and $8,000. If you don't believe me, type "cartier 4 diamond love bracelet" into ebay and look at the sold listings...

Cheers, and best of luck on this one. don't sell for $900 if it's real, my dude!

I wish it was a real Cartier! I don't think so though, because real ones all have the "screw" closure on both ends of the bracelet. At least from what I can find researching it online. Also, the "Cartier" logo seems a little off center to me, and supposedly real ones are absolutely perfect in every way. I didn't know a cartier dealer would evaluate for free though--I'm going to check that out. Thank you!!! :)

Really sorry to say that it looks exactly like one made in Pakistan offered by a company called Fashionker. Has the same connector. Gold plated stainless steel. Also looks too light to be Cartier 750 gold. You'd think Cartier would be going after them for infringing on their name and design. Also, how can they hallmark it 750 if it's SS?? A ripoff if sold as gold. Still a nice detecting find and gets the heart going.

OH man... I was so caught up in the pictures of the bracelet and the design, I didn't see the picture of the weight. Yeah, a real bracelet is supposed to be 31 grams. What you've got is too light... and further looksies show the diamonds don't go all the way through the bracelet, which they do on a real Cartier. :(.
