With all respect, I wonder how people can adamantly insist that dowsing rods work, despite all the evidence to the contrary. If they worked, REALLY worked, then there would be at least one reputable news article about it.

They're a gimmick, sort of a modern-day remnant of the alchemy/sorcery days a few centuries back.

You broke the code. Seems like many people have not.

I have always viewed dowsing rods with great skepticisim, however, I have seem them actually used in the field by my neighbor with constant "luck" in finding water and sewer pipes (he was a plumber).

If with his help I couldn't find the zipper on my pants.....

Go figure.

Dowsing Rods

Dowsing:
For years people have wandered around with sticks (dowsing) most areas for water. Peach tree limbs.
Later, now for sale (costly rods) that holds a sample of what is being searched for.
Dowsing has been around for many moons.

Lots of money changed hands ~~
I read where times gone by "Moon Stones " were used for a fee.
THE Joseph Smith (Mormon) (story on the internet ~~was arrested for swindling with a moon stone. Many Moon stone readers ready to help locate wealth or lost treasure.
I guess He (Joseph Smith) was one of the many physics that used a magic moon stone.
These people charged a fee ~~"If the treasure was not found ~~some one had moved it" OR it had already been found.
Might be Hidden again and SO now for a fee~~ I will zero in on it again ~~You try to locate it again .
In Old times people had magic stones (Moon Stones) that they would put the stone inside a hat and put their face against the hat (To block out light) and then the magic stone gave readings and directions for wealth.
They may have people that do it still. Locate or swindle?

I read where a wagon train member met a friend who had beeb robbed of all his money. However He had funds available at Western Union just down the street ~~if this friend would lend Him money till He could claim baggage then He could go to western union ~~He would re-pay Him.
Never to be seen again. Thats been done today too.
Crooks long ago too.

BTW I read where MD People are using magnets to check finds with detecting. One said a small magnet would lift up to 80 pounds.
Anyone know if that would interfere with detector function? (signals)
Maybe like a magnet used to be a caution being around a computer?
Use care searching for wealth and change.

I get strange looks and unwanted attention when I'm metal detecting- I can't imagine the reaction I'd get with dowsing rods...
