Gold Ring, Capped Bust, and 31 Other Oldies in 3 Hours

WOW ! Great job ! Can you give me the exact location to where you are finding all this good stuff ? LOL  ( Post from the other day about giving locations )

Wow! Crazy good finds! I found a very similar ring this spring. I assumed it was gold plated copper. And maybe the center worn off and exposed the copper. It was also stamped 18k with a crown hallmark. I'll have to revisit it. Congrats!!

great post. Thanx for sharing! Yeah the copper coins have been "kissed", but the silver looks great!

That's what it's all about. I'm really happy when I pull up Iron history on my land. Can't imagine the feeling finding what you have found. Congrats. Does anyone know what the Crown means on the ring?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing...maybe its origins? I would like to find out though.

Thanks everyone for checking out the posting, I would had added to it today but I had to get the boat geared up for a water hunt with OBN tomorrow. But Ill certainly be back there soon!

Same here, I have actually dug two with the 18 and crown stamp, both were shiny gold inside and outside was green just like the one you posted, if you clean off the green you will find it is prob copper like mine was. I think scammers back in the day gold plated copper rings and passed them off as gold. How does it ring up? Mine gives a penny signal....dead give away to me it was not 18k gold

Hmm, Its certainly gold underneath. I believe the copper was part of the ring. The copper in the middle has perfect lines separating it from the gold. I think maybe it could had something written in the copper or is in fact just a cheaper made wedding ring. It rings up 12.22-12.24 on CTX. Regardless its still old..and some gold.

Yep. With those #'s, sounds like yours is the real deal. Mine, like g4e's rang up on the higher end. Also, I see where yours has distinctive lines between the metals. Mine blurs between the two. Plus your stamps are much clearer than mine. I'd be willing to bet mine is a cheap knock off of your authentic one. Great find!

I think I found you some info on the Crown Hallmark. You can view the site I got the info o @ http://www.gold-traders.co.uk/blog/simple-gold-hallmark-guide/

The next mark we see is a Crown or Gold Standard Mark. This was first introduced in 1798 and can now been seen on all UK hallmarked gold that’s 9, 14 18 and 22ct. The crown also appears on old 12 and 15 carat gold, however this was stopped in 1932.
