Giant foreign silver

The writing on the rim is really neat. I like the star. It is such a cool find to have in a gold rush era place. It was such a melting pot out here. I am up to I think 7 different nationalities from one spot.

There is a flag looking thing in the right of the date. A fish to the left.
The fish threw me through a loop why would a fish be on a coin?
You know what the flag means as far as minting?

Really? That fish is a flag? Dang. Never would of guessed.
More French coins are out there. I found an 1953 1 franc. Beautiful. If we keep digging we'll find them.

No, in my excitement of your find I misread and edited my previous post. Moral of the story I have no idea..hahaha Going to still look though

I do know that the symbol changed with every mint. Like mine has the medical symbol across from the W, Maybe it was just the symbol of the mint.. Yours is a oddball though. Most had a letter designation and a symbol where yours had 2 symbols??

That is awesome!! Super happy to see a second one of these dug in CA. I dug one last march and the first coin I dug to have writing around the rim. I did find a good webisight on them to look up the mint mark!! I will see if I can find it. Some are worth big bucks.. Good Job!

Edit, Man I have some grizzly paws. they coin looks way bigger in your hand...lol:D
