Thrifty.
My neighbors pay $3.49 at the local Sams club. I use a siphon on share theirs. Net cost; .026 per gallon and falling. Price derived = (siphon price / Gallons YTD).
$2.60 siphon / 100 gallons YTD.
We, the tired, hungry masses of spoiled, lazy, fat folks in the U.S. still pay less for our standard of living than those sorry socialists in many other nations. Unfortunately, the planet seems to have stopped creating much new fossil fuel. Gas will absolutely hit $5 - $6 before the economy develops a demand for genuine alternatives, this will happen sooner if the commies win the upcoming election. Then we'll have a lag time for the supply of that alternative to create an equilibrium. Capitalism loves equilibrium, socialism retards the markets via theft of your stuff. I digress.......
"Biofuels" are not a solution. Trust me, go fart towards your lawnmower and see what happens. Ethanol based products and derivatives are only a feel good political buzz word. Besides, who wants to waste perfectly good moonshine? (Yes, I know.) The true cost of ethanol on your pocketbook or cladstash is staggering. The net loss to society is far more than that of petroleum use. The environment, food prices, etc. All crops in the US used for ethanol would give us around 20% - 30% of our fuel. Then were hungry as hell. Biofuel hands society a net loss. Rather, it kicks the US in the jimmy while diverting attention and resoures. Brilliant. Karl marx would be proud.
Hydrogen or solar generated electricity looks much more realistic.
Ooooops, Sam's Club just raised prices, it's Friday. My neighbors are less than happy while I'm driving to the beach at 87 mph in my 5.7L Tundra.
