Neat Idea!

I'll have to say I remember around april29th 2001 prices in this range, but that may just be around these parts...however that gas station looks abandoned..... could be any day...

Thanks for the contest Carol!

Very clever HEAVYMETALNUT, I've tried sharpening the image too, to get the words to show up but my guess has had to rely solely on the guesses of others, information on digital cameras, and details in that photo. Here is my guess:

June 24, 1998.........This is actually the answer because I saw the expiration date on the license plate. HH all,

For me it's the van, the prices and oh the reference to "lead free" that indicates it's even older than I would have originally thought. But, then I am just guessing and figured what the heck - I was 23 at about that time...so it had to have been when I had hair, didn't care about money, and still drove a Subaru hatchback that we loved getting 35 mpg. Sigh...

Okay, I found the original picture on my harddrive, and gosh folks... NONE of you are even close.

Here's a tip. The gas station was closed for awhile, and the the barn was a gift shop... Vlad and I were on a motorcycle run... and I snapped the picture as we were riding by.

I thought I took the picture once gas prices changed to $1.56, but this turns out not to be the case, I must have taken the picture after Hurricane Katrina when gas prices skyrocketed to an amazing $3.43.

Everyone take another guess. ;)

The prize is something out of our treasure chest and it will slip easily into your treasure chest. ;)
