Garrett's new waterproof pro-pointer! WANT.

I'll make a deal with everyone. You all put your money together and buy me one, and I'll do a review and let you know how it performs!

In all honesty, I have my name on the list for the first shipment (I hope!) and I'll do a video review of performance, features, etc.

I want one! Too many times I missed smaller targets with just a scoop in knee deep water.

Well where I come from more sensitivity means greater depth of detection. But my wife tells me I'm wrong most the time:shock:

That's what it means here too but, so far, all we have is a pre release of information, which ain't been verified by anyone. Garretts might be saying "sensitivity", and it has nothing to do with actual depth sensitivity at all. I heard the thing has multiple tones. Could that mean tone descrimination "sensitivity" maybe?

All I am saying is that IMPO, I wouldn't go and pre-order for one at Garretts full MSRP before I even had one detectorist out there give a review of any kind. Has anyone actually found any kind of real review on this thing? I am anxious for that review.

Yet I wanna to say thanks to those who pre ordered and will give the review asap. I hope this new pointer fits my desires, starting with a 3" minimum maximum.

Let Jason dive with one. Rain isn't chit for testing something. I hunt in the rain with non waterproof headphones. One set is 3 years old:shock:. But diving in water where the temperature changes is where it should be tested. It's like someone playing Guitar in a building. Then someone asks them to play outside in the cold by a campfire. All sorts of issues:lol:

I just want to see the performance in the dirt first. Waterproof has always been last on my list. I agree, Jason would be one of my first people for Garretts donating one for testing.

If it says waterproof to 10, then I'll take it down to 10! The only problem is that with the winter weather I won't be diving for a while. It makes it hard to get out of your gear when it freezes solid before you can get back to the truck!

LMAO! It makes it hard for me to walk to the car when it hits 60 F:lol:

Put your pro-pointer in a zip lock and have fun (2 if you're :secret:afraid)! You could also gorilla tape the speaker, battery cap and power button....it vibrates right?

Looks kind of cool but I don't really see the huge appeal for anybody but divers. :?::?: Never use my Propointer at the beach...suppose waterproof would be nice for hunting in the rain but otherwise I don't really see myself upgrading from the regular one.

Definitely want one! When, and how much do you need, Garrett?

I wouldn't use it for all of my water hunting, but in rivers that is the perfect tool! It can be really hard to chase down targets in a rocky river bottom! I made a water-resistant housing, of sorts, for mine, but having one designed to go as deep as my AT Pro would be awesome! Now, it had BETTER come with a lanyard loop!

Exactly, folks forget that there is more to water hunting than pretty sandy shores, they should try detecting around countless slippery stones of all sizes and constant rushing water...
As far as the sound goes, as long as the speaker doesn't flood the sound should be heard. How do you think whales and dolphins communicate? Heck just take two stones and tap them together underwater, you will hear that click across the lake.

Mehhhhh never mind the water proofing, how about garrett just makes one that doesn't false when pressure is applied to it. I've gone through 3 GPPs already and I don't hunt that often.

Don't worry someone will be here shortly telling us all your falsing on those three GPP's of yours is simply down to how YOU have been using them as a shovel and a hammer

I feel for your frustration sir & I too hope they have rectified that problem with these NEW waterproof ones

I would imagine they reverse engineered a TRX to gain the depth the propointer never had.

So you are implying that Garrett has copied a Whites design?

Isn't that illegal?

Such a bold statement with no actual proof to support your theory - Care to explain how you reached that conclusion?

Temp change not that big of an issue, pressure will be the biggest factor:yes:

Here that person is! I have never had an issue with my GPP. Just watch a few videos on youtube and you can see the caveman tactics that are often used on a pinpointer. If you are really good with your big pinpointer (metal detector to the neanderthals reading this), the pinpointer can carry out its designed function which isn't being a shovel or hammer:roll:
But if you don't understand how to use your "big pinpointer", then you should bring along a shovel and hammer:laughing:

I guess they put the scraper blade on there for fashion.

I abuse every pinpointer I ever had. The old Garrett model is the only one that could not take it.

Scraper according to the Oxford dictionary: A tool or device used for scraping, especially for removing dirt, paint, ice, or other unwanted matter from a surface.
Nothing there about digging, hammering or shoveling from where I sit.:D
