garrett vs white

I think dealers make more profit on whites so they are really hyped up.

Yep that must be it..... They make some really good detectors in Taiwan:D

Maybe Whites makes good detectors that arnt hyped up. I wonder, hmm, now I am really thinking:?:

Maybe you should buy a Whites and do a comparison with the top of the line Bounty Hunter. I have. The whites went twice as deep on dimes, Whites target ID'ed 3-4x deeper than the bounty hunter. But to be fair I have a v3i and there is not another detector on planet earth as good:D

Garrett AT Pro

I have used the Ace 250.with very good results Tons of clad, lots of jewelry including gold and silver finds. I also have a Fisher CZ6A and have found deeper targets with it too. But it is a heavy machine compared to the Ace 250 and my shoulder gets worn out after about 2 hours. I have ordered the AT Pro because from the video I have seen, it will be comparable to the CZ6A in depth and may be superior in sorting out some trash. (we shall see). It is a lighter machine also. I also am impressed with their service. It is an American made product too. (more jobs for Americans)

Hi Dirtdiver. I have been using a new AT Pro for nearly a month now and, for the money, it appears to be a very capable metal detector. I tried it at the beach over the past week and wouldn't recommend it for a person of my limited experience with metal detectors in this salty and sandy environment. I love the wide range of notch discrimination but it was impossible to ground balance near the waters edge. It is a chatty machine and is affected by WIFI and other electronic transmission devices. This problem was noticed while metal detecting in a large park which appears to have a extensive amount of buried electrical transmission lines. My AT Pro went crazy and began cycling numbers on the digital read out and frantically racing back and forth across the target indicator bar. Only thing to do was shut down the machine and move to another area in the park. Regardless of your choice of metal detectors, I seriously recommend you get a good pin pointer. I have been using a Harbor Freight pointer but I recently bought the Garrett Pro Pointer. This awsome tool works great and is invaluable in locating tiny targets with minimal wasted time. I believe using the Pro Pointer regularly would make even a lesser costing metal detector more effective.

General rule of thumb in all things detecting, stay away from garrett. I've had both of various types.

Newbie. Garrett GTI 2500 or Whites V3X?

Hello all! I'm new to this form, and I didn't see this particular topic listed anywhere else. I have two Garrett GTI 2500 detectors (for me and for my wife). My wife didn't like to detect too much, so I bought my daughter an Ace 250, and she and I have been going about four times a week, for the last two weeks.
Not only have I found that there is something wrong with the "computer" inside of my machine, but I just found I don't really care for it. As well, my daughter is just cleaning house on me. She's already found four rings, two bracelets, a necklace, a few pendants, and about 10 bucks in clad. I, however am the bottle cap King.
I had originally wanted the whites V3X, but it wasn't available to try out, at that time, locally. I am pretty sure I'm going to go buy one on the 31st, or at least try it out, but i'm not sure if I should just get my machine repaired, or get rid of it and pick up the Whites. I would like everyone's opinions on those machines only, please.
Thanks!

There was a cracking Celtic Brooch found local to me a few weeks back, roughly 1000 yrs old and in lovely order, was found with an Ace250........

Never underestimate an ACE 250. Many excellent finds have been posted here by 250 owners. A good machine for all levels of experience.
