Found and lost

I would like to hear your found than lost story’s. I had a close call a couple of weeks ago. I had found a kg3 and for some reason I didn’t put it in my usual spot ( in my find pouch). I put it in my pocket. I got home and went to get it out to show my wife and it was gone. I got lucky and found it in the back of my seat in my truck. So what have you found than lost again?

Well ... shucks .... what would it have mattered if you'd truly lost the kg3 ? You would only need to walk out your front door, throw a rock in any direction, and you'd simply find another kg3 within 5 ft. of where the rock landed. Right ?

I lost a half dime once @ the following way : At the conclusion of the hunt, I had dumped out the contents of my apron on the tailgate of my truck. While my hunting buddy and I were tallying up the day's take. Naturally, there's always dirt, pebbles, leaves, twigs, etc.... that make their way into the apron. So after I was done sorting out trash from goodies, I swept all the dirt and crumbs and twigs off the tail gate onto the ground. This was along side a dirt road in the countryside next to where a stage stop had been.

Later, after getting home, I couldn't find the half-dime. I figured out that since it's such a small coin (and was probably discolored), that I must have missed seeing it, and brushed it off my tailgate, with the dirt, onto the ground.

I returned to the spot in the countryside attempting to use my detector to find it. Lo & behold the entire underground of where I'd parked, was an underground metal sewer pipe thing. Just one giant signal everywhere. Thus .... lost the seated half dime.
