I though that it was a proof when I first saw it, it is hard to see from my scan, but it is highly polished to almost mirror shine. Stamped on it is 1960 on the left and 1980 on the right. Any ideas, a self made commemorative perhaps?
Those coins are sold...or were sold...with the "collectible" angle associated with them. I have found a myriad of years from the bicentennial ones all the way into the late 80s. Sorry, but there is a reason why you found it CRH Keep searching for:
My father gave me this Kennedy coin when I was a kid,
it's the only coin I ever saved, having no interest in coin
collecting until now that I'm detecting and have to work
for them.
It doesn't seem to be some commemorative, there are no
years except the year of issue. On the reverse it's
stamped with I guess the "artist's" name and year of
his "creation", "Alvin Hutson, 1966"
