As it stands right now, the wife, Ozzie (the coin sniffing wiener) and I are planning on being there. Sounds like a fun day..

I just checked my work schedule, and my awesome boss has given me a 3 day weekend. I will be heading to Clinton Mo. on Friday. I will be stopping in Pleasanton Ks. to swing coil in a location that was once a picnic area for Union Army Officers. I may start negotiations on permission to search the grounds of the Officers Quarters, as well as a field that was once a Parade Ground.

I look forward to hunt this park again, and to hunt it with friends. This is the park where I first met Lightning Jack. I found a cool Boy Scout rank pin there. Clinton is also where I found my oldest coin an 1860 IH.

How far in west MO?...I will be living near KC.

Do any of you guys hunt in the winter around there, or does the ground freeze?
I currently live in the south...spoiled rotten.

You will be in a perfect location to make it to the spring hunt and I am looking forward to meeting and detecting with you. Winter hunting??? We have our winters where the temps stay below 32 degrees and everything is frozen and we have some milder winters with only a couple of freezes during the season. That's the thing about Kansas, if you don't like the weather, wait until tomorrow.

Mild Winter days is when I hit my best sites thats overgrown the rest of the year, Its a short window of time to get into them but well worth it..
