Had a nice long hunt Friday of about 6 hours. There wasn't many targets to found but had a great time doing so. I ran into another gentleman who was very polite and helped me by showing me how to locate targets by just listening to the double beeps without using the pinpointer mode. He showed me the other trick as well of determining if the target could be a bottle cap. He too was swinging an Equinox 800 but he had the big ol' 15 inch coil. Where I went you are not allowed to do the swimming areas while the lifeguards are on duty so I did an area of non swimming until they left at 6pm and to my surprise is where I found my first piece of 925 sterling jewelry! Not to long after I found a old U.M.C shotgun shell casing ( what is left of it ) dating back to 1890 from what I found on the internet. On the trail leading off the beach I undug what I thought was a quarter but turned out to be a foreign coin from Thailand.

I would try to do those swimming areas early in the morning without the lifeguards with more time.

That would be tough for me to do since I work day shift during the week and have a little one ( 4 yes old ). I took a half a day last Friday when I went and my Girlfriend took our Son to her sister's to babysit her kids, so I had a "Me" day. I have plenty of other beaches within an hour and half that I can go whether lifeguards are on duty or not. The gentlemen I met said he sees some regulars hunting there so I will probably hunt other areas.
