First Silver Ever x2

Stories are never too long, the longer the better. Great job, you'll never forget the first silver. Mine was an 1897 Barber dime and still remember like it was yesterday. If you get a DD coil for your Ace250 you will increase depth and target separation and make it an even better machine...

Thanks for the well wishes and advice. I'll look into the DD coil. Trying to take baby steps (financially) into this hobby :)

The reading was fine. You finding success is simply fantastic. Congrats on reaping the benefits of research. Those Silvers will keep you in smiles for a long time to come. Jack

WTG!! nothing better than finding silver imo.

It took me 4 months of hunting an old school yard to finally find my first silver coin...a merc dime....with a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV.I'd already agreed to buy an F2 from another member here at the time and was waiting on it to arrive and the first hunt there with the F2 I found a war nickel not far from where the merc was.

Fast forward 5 months later...

My little "treasure" box now has 1 standing liberty quarter,3 GW quarters,7 mercs,5 rosies and 10 war nickels. Not all from the school yard btw,but some from one old park and a merc from a empty lot I got permission to hunt.

like some one said...seems like once the ice is broken they start showing up regular...even from places I've thought I'd hit pretty good already.

So...don't just hit a spot once...keep going back....coins are very easy to swing over and miss, wet ground is more conductive than dry,I love going to a hit spot after a rain, always seem to find something I'd missed...try different angles.. a different coil if you have different sizes....

GL and HH.

Congrats on the silver and welcome to the forum! Don't worry about writing too much! You should see some of my posts -- Mine can be quite lengthy! :D

Congradulations

Two silver dimes, that's sweet. I used a metal detector 20 years ago and put it down for 18 years, I picked it back up 3 years ago. Now I am hooked. Today I found a 1942s dime so you got me beat. There's more silver there for sure, and wheat pennies, and maybe a Buffalo or two. Remember, dig all the nickels and pull tabs too, cause one of these times, it gonna be gold.
HH everyone

You're not green anymore. Research, patience, logical thinking, desire to recover (and luck) is all any us really have. Great find. Hope you have many more!
