First debris from Japanese earthquake/tsunami reaches Olympic Peninsula

I agree with KWA, it unlikely that there are human remains left, and probably no radiation, if it had been radioactive it would have been tracked.

In a perfect world this would probably be true but unfortunately it is not a perfect world...I would be very cautious about messing with this stuff.

Better to be a bit careful than sorry after the fact...and if it turns out to be safe then all the better for all concerned.

hey deep if you are buying into the paranoid fringe, ive got some iodide i'd liked to sell you. hehe

I live about 115Km inland from the power plant and so far no problem with radiation. I visited Tomokomai (which is a coastal town) in Hokkaido in August and noticed a lot of debris on the beach. Mostly housing materials... for instance a lot of wood for framing, insulation, plastics of all kinds and the odd household appliance. Found a coin on the beach but probably not from the tsunami and before I got my detector. I was not and am still not too worried about the situation over here.
closer to home, I went to Hitachinaka beach about 3 weeks ago and the effects of the earthquake are visible everywhere. Still repairing the roads large gaps in the concrete pilings around the bay. But people were still out fishing and surfing... no worries! Only found a few coins which didn't even pay for the "Nikuman" and drink for lunch!
