I had my first run at the beach this week and didn't completely skunk. Went out at sunrise and gridded an area of beach that I thought would have been productive but didn't produce anything in the wet and only one junk target in the dry sand (a tarp eyelet). Decided I would swing my way back to the condo (knowing the kids would be up soon) and was able to pick up a couple more targets one being a pair of prescription glasses and the other junk copper. I got to give it to you seasoned beach hunters because you guys make it look easy. It was a beautiful morning to be out at the beach.

:dingding: You found the gold as soon as you got there!

I've gotten to where I like to "dance" through the sand ....following signs of foot and butt traffic....and then when I find something I spiral around it about 20 feet....and then it's off to the next game trail. I still grid lots of areas....but I like to start in the center and then either square or circle my way around and around until I bump into something that I can't get around....or until I give up on the area. IN the wet sand....I just grid....and I'm also trying to tap into my powers of psychic-ness....not having much success with that..BUT as Felix said...you found the gold as soon as you got out on the sand.

That sunrise was hard to beat and made for a beautiful morning. Like yall, part of the fun for me is being able to enjoy these moments in the outdoors.

Very nice sunrise! I need to get out there pretty soon. Haven't been to the beach in a couple of weeks.
What beach are yall at??

We were on the north end of Tybee Island for a couple days. Next week we will be in South Walton FL for a week.

On my bucket list is to hunt a beach someday. My plan at retirement was to travel the beach metal detecting. Well, COVID-19 had other plans for me.

Hunting a beach takes planning, in most cases, just like a successful land hunt. The only real difference, I believe, is the odds of finding jewelry are higher hunting a beach, And the recovery is a tad easier.

I'm heading to Florida in a few days for a couple of weeks. We are well inland but i hope to get to an Atlantic beach for a day.
Have had many hunts on Lake Michigan beaches but never salt water.

I hope you can make it work. We will be on the gulf and I plan to sneak away from the wife and kids for several hunts during the week. There are some freshwater beaches here in GA that I plan to hit this year as well.

Nice photo. Couple things I noticed right away that I hope will help you out. Your grid lines are far apart... I doubt anyone is swimming so close to the rocks and the rocks would likely cut down any waves big enough to knock off most necklaces, rings, etc.

I just got back from the gulf. I hunted some but the waves were really pounding the beach so I only got a lil water time. I did find a junk ear ring in the wet sand out of the surf. But I will say this,,,, There has to be gold there cause I know too many people hit the water wearing jewelry and those waves had to knock some of it off!!!!

Yup, it's a whole new challenge and some days just getting out and being able to forget about the day to day stresses is the real treasure!

I'm getting excited to hit the gulf. We leave on Saturday!
