Went out in Norwich, N.D. for a short detecting trip yesterday. I think it's my 3rd time detecting there and the only real reason I've been going there has been to find a Norwich token........well, it happened.
I was doing a right-of-way along one of the streets and didn't find a lot except for the token. I think it was kind of funny, once I dug the token and knew what it was I immediately turned my machine off, walked back to my truck and drove back to Minot.....all while having a big smile on my face.😁

She was pretty crusty coming out but after a few soaks in lemon juice and some brushings it came out looking pretty good! Still a bit rough looking but I'm more than happy to have it!
Found a couple wheats as well earlier than the token but they got forgotten pretty fast.

I have never used lemon juice, but it sure seems popular ! Ya, you can teach an old new people new tricks !
, lol

Nice find. Tokens are my favorite items to come across. Even if I'm out somewhere not detecting and I come across a token I have to fight the urge to leave it behind.

Attaboy TP. Congrats on the token. I remember reading your posts in the past and your quest for the now not so illusive Norwich token. Well done and good luck. Mark

Congrats on your find, I found my first trade token just this week here in Wisconsin. After looking at yours it looks like both of ours might have been stamped by the same maker. I found out mine is from the 1920s as the store listed opened in 21 and went out of business by 29.

Thanks Mark! It takes a lot of swinging sometimes and a lot of luck but every once in a while what you're looking for shows itself.

Guessing the news accounts got confused, but I think the merchant Ole had a brother named Olaf who was the one who was burnt to death.

Didn't come out that clean, mine looked like yours, i gave in a bath in hydrogen peroxide for 5 min, then used an old toothbrush on it, after several cycles of this, I rubbed it with parafin wax and wiped off the excess with a micro fiber towel.
