Final coinage totals for 2022....buying and CRH

KT's 10 year run at CRHing of half dollars ended on 07/07/2022 when He was no longer able to order boxes of halves from the bank. Totals CRH for the year are: 20 40%Ag Kens, 24 90%Ag halves, 15 proofs, 7 low mintage and $3.82 overage from the bank coin counter.

This brings KT's total CRHing efforts to: total halves searched - 4, 670,000
40%Ag halves recovered: 2,808; 90%Ag halves recovered: 823; total proofs recovered: 670; total low mintage halves recovered: 7, 152.
Total overage recovered from bank machine: $990.16
Other interesting items recovered from bank machine: numerous foreign coins, 18K ring with jade stone, a couple of gold teeth, 1 gold grill, several small 14K gold rings, 2 live .22 rounds, several junk stud earrings.

Now the remainder of the year....silver halves purchased from eBay: 203 90% halves, 12 40%Ag halves. One silver Rosie received as a gift!

As KT continues His Royal Silver Quest into 2023, He is seeing a lot of pressure for silver coins going for significantly over silver melt value, but also the buyers are in somewhat control on eBay. Lots of silver coins are listed at very high prices, like double melt value for lower grade coins, but time out due to NO BIDS. KT has a set price he will pay for coins that includes shipping and will not bid over that. Thus, in the past 2 months, KT has bid on over 250 lots of silver halves and only won a handful, but that is KT's way of keeping the market under control. And from KT's threads in the CRH section, it is apparent that KT still manages to purchase a decent number of coins. 203 90%Ag halves in 5 months is not a bad number per month!

Anyway, from now on, KT will continue to purchase halves and we shall all see what success His Majesty has in 2023!

Thanks, Wolf-Dog, for your kind comments! Yes, in the earliest years, the bank officials rarely checked the throat of the machine or the reject bin. Also, many coins would be hung up within the machine and when KT dumped in large numbers of halves, the machine would shake and vibrate, knocking loose any other coinage hung in the machine, thus KT would often get more back than He put through the machine…easy to recognize since His Majesty only dumped in half dollars, yet the ticket would often show a fair number of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennys!

It also helped that most users never knew actually what the coin totals were that they dumped in! Ha ha

Yes, I have had it happen to me too, although on a much smaller scale. I've probably only got $5-10 extra. However, I've got probably an additional $10 just from randomly checking Coinstars at local stores.

Royal Thanks, jimther! KT is actively seeking more silver halves, but thus far has been outbid by various knaves! But they must sleep sometimes, so KT forges on with His Royal Efforts!
