Shingles.
You don’t want these, trust me.
They make you feel awful.
Hopefully in a few days with the medication given I’ll feel better.

The rash didn’t show up for like 72 hours after I began to feel bad.
When I saw the rash it was time for serious action.

I am not one to go to doc for just any little thingy.

Wondering if you got the shingles shot . sube

I didn’t have vaccine.
Actually my insurance wouldn’t pay for shingles shot until I turned 60.
I turned 60 late April, and was going to get vaccine. So I got shingles real quick after my 60 th birthday. I plan on getting vaccine when I am well. Will be 2-3 weeks.

Been there they are very painful... like a blow torch on your flesh... get better but its gonna take a while...

I heard you are more likely to get shingles if you had chicken pox as a kid.

I had shingles one time some years back, but thankfully it was a fairly mild case compared to how bad some have gotten it.

Just be careful as I think I remember hearing you don't want it getting near your eyes.

Hope you recover sooner rather than later !

If you had chicken pox as a child, then you got the virus. KT got a shingles shot when he turned 55 and then last year, the Royal Doctor informed His Majesty that there was a much more effective new shot. Old shot was about 40% effective, new shot 95% effective, and even if you get it, it will be a mild case! So KT encourages everyone when you qualify, get it! Luckily my insurance pays for all vaccines!:D:D

Been there. Had shingles about 3 years ago. Really sucked.
Got both doses of the shot this year, but that was no joy either.

My uncle got shingles really bad years ago... I don't think you want to try this but my uncle had the shingles on his scalp and they used a old fashioned treatment... my aunt spread mayonnaise on the rash... it seemed to help him... my aunt did this 30 years ago to him.. like I said it seemed to help...

Personally I would suffer before trying that... I wouldn't want to attract flies

Got shingles around age 50, thought at first I had a case of poison ivy but normally I’m not allergic. Got really annoying, burning, itching for about a week, went to doctor but too late. Still have small scars across the chest and slight across back. A bit odd, soon after my wife and then mother developed shingles.

Like many of your posts , I don't get it. Military Vet for 22 years and your insurance wouldn't cover it ? Regardless , I do hope you get it taken care of. I don't like to see anybody suffer...

Hope you have a speedy recovery. And stay out of the water...;)

Thanks for your concern.
I am still poking along. This medication Valtrex makes me feel worse than the shingles do I think. But I have to get this virus out of my body. Feeling smidge better this afternoon.

KOB,
Bless your heart.
Go back up in this thread. You’ll see where I said my insurance wouldn’t pay for vaccine until I turned 60. This is what DoD decided to do with Tricare beneficiaries. The shingles vaccine being so expensive it is handled unlike other vaccines I.e. pneumonia, flu, etc.
I tried to get vaccine 8 years ago (I was 52 at the time) when I was told the above. I even priced the vaccine straight out. It was $400. So I passed.

Hope your feeling better soon! My only time having shingles was mild and it still wasn't a pleasant experience, hopefully it doesn't sideline you too long.
