I wont call any names, or recall instances. But the few are obvious.
Ya lol.

So ya people do it, but I doubt it is anyone from this forum.
Don't be so sure about that. I called a new member on a post that was astronomical just recently. Super vague details, dates did not line up, circumstances of the find were absolutely unbelievable. Asked for more details (as there were really none to begin with) and they got upset with my inquizitiveness, which to me is a dead giveaway.
After so many years of doing this, and the length of time I participated in on-line forums I think I've got a pretty keen ability to pick 'em pretty accurately.
I agree, but in this forum, it would be rare for someone to do that. Expecially for some of the members we have known for a while. The only ones I would have to question would be some of the newer members. But, until I have a good reason not to trust someone, I will trust them.
I am a newer member and you can trust that I have found nothing yet, other than a couple hunks of iron! (relic hunting)
I am still looking though!

Another thing I have always wondered/pondered about. How in the heck do you know that a certificate of authenticity is authentic. I wonder if someone could start a business certifying certificates of authenticity to actually be authentic???????????????/
How do you know the new certification is "genuine"? I know dealers are in it to make a buck here and there. But the few in this area are cutthroats and "shysters."This is already being done with coins. Graded coins in "slabs" as they are called are being re-examined and certified as being graded at the top level of whatever the grade was in the first place. So it is certifying the certifications of well respected grading companies, of which there really are a few.
So in a sense, it's the same idea.

"The Great Treasure Rush Of 78."I use to live in a town where the frost set in so hard and come spring it warmed up too fast. The sudden melting and frost lifting out of the ground forced lost coins and rings and other valuables to burst threw the topsoil and land all over the place. Folks was gathering up every container they could to gather the stuff up. The stores were empty as no one came to work for several days. The whole place was in an state of chaos. After a few days everything was all gathered up and things returned to normal. The incident has happened in various locations across the country and the weather channel recently had a special on it called, "When weather changed treasure hunting." This also explains why some folks have trouble finding older coins and stuff in their areas.
