equinox 600 chattery

ok I'm back at it full swing now been away from MD to long. got my equinox 600 last week. took it out for trial run. all worked great no chatter quite as mouse. heavily detected small beach. no real finds tried dry sand and in water didn't have waterproof head phones so barley submerged so can still hear. had settings on beach 2 volume 25 threshold 0 sensitivity to 20-25 (played with to see how high it would go?) tones at 5 and 3 for swing speed all quite as mouse.


went to diff beach last night. settings all same except had on beach 1 (wasn't going in water dry/wet sand) had to set sensitivity way down to 12-15 to keep it from chattering. found many targets very deep coins. all coins were cookies of sand or brown red colored from being their so long I know I was getting deep targets. found junk brass ring with rusty pearl, heart shaped locket saying I heart(love) john (junk) and beach was full of can slaw tops and bottoms of cans, bottle tops, pull tabs etc.


question is. I had lots of chatter had turn sense down low is that normal from all the junk can slaw pull tabs etc?

sounds like that or that beach has more black sand/minerals at it. I am no beach goer though. I am just going from soil experience. The equinox, especially in beach and gold modes, will pick up the tiniest pieces of foil, can slaw, and lead.

I work beaches with a fair bit of black sand and power lines near, and I find on beach 2 in the water I can get away with 22 max sensitivity or it's too chatty, but I'll usually run 20. I haven't found it makes a big difference in depth of finds.
What I will do is run 20, and if I hear a whisper I'll up the sensitivity and check it out more.

so running at 14 sensitivity must be ok. got deep targets still. still in learning phase of new MD

Hmmm... a Bahama Felix!

I notice a lot of chatter with the Nox-800 in high EMI areas too. Very distracting; especially if you hunt with the threshold.

Aside from adjusting noise cancel, ground balance, and sensitivity, there’s not much you can do. Be sure your cell phone is turned off.

Have you removed the coil cover and cleaned it out? There is a LOT of sand that gets in there!
