I returned to a permission and started up where I left off a couple of months ago. Nothing too exciting was popping out from between the iron in an area I had already covered. With about an hour of light left I switched to a larger coil and moved to an area of the front yard I had not detected. I was mostly interested in just covering ground and getting a sense of things.
After digging a few signals I hit a beauty of a high tone just a few feet from where I was getting a lot of EMI and overload signals from a buried power line running to some landscape lighting. I carefully dug a 5 inch plug and the 1892 Barber quarter was just an inch or so deeper.
I rescanned the area, took a few steps, and hit a nearly identical signal, except a bit stronger and larger. I smiled to myself and considered getting out the phone to record the dig. Nah. A 1902 Barber half popped out of the plug at a similar depth as the quarter.
I kept at it for a few more minutes but it was not my day to dig a barber trifecta. I did find a neat little flag.
One of the photos below shows the distance between the two coins, which are marked with two yellow flags.
