Diablo Sand Scoop

I'm pretty sure they are still being tested... I had the chance to use a couple and I was impressed with both the stainless and aluminum in fact if I was to purchase one it would be the aluminum scoop...

I talked to Greg Diablo just last night...he is sending out a revised SS model to CJ (Lou) in Conn, then once he gets some feed back from Lou, he is going to do a couple Aluminums..these will be send out for testing also, hopefully I would say they will be up for sell next spring..It has been a on going project, making several changes from feed back. One was the sharp edges on the back of the scoop, which now, all are gone...here is a picture of several of the test models he has sent out for testing and returned for inspection. And the latest...........If you need a scoop now I would recommend one from Stealth, RTG's or Strav's..

On the Aluminum, I have to say I have a Titanium, and a 2025 Aluminum..The aluminum is much cheaper and about the same weight...and from what I'm hearing from feed back..it's tuffer then the SS scoop...One thing about the 2025, no one else can make a scoop from it...it's not weldable

Damn, those are some sweet looking baskets. I appreciate quality work and know it when I see it .... these are going to be the top of the line sand scoops.

Hey Joe, That's "Lew"!

Since being introduced to Diablo it is the only one of my several scoops I have used.

The hunting grounds locally are a perfect scoop test track and every time I hunt with Diablo I find out just how well designed these diggers are.

I'm looking forward to torturing the latest version and from what I know of such things I expect it may well be the final edition.

I am not at liberty to say more.

Stay tuned Friends,

CJ

oldbeechnut. good solution to scoop Diablo out of 2025 Aluminum ...
I also tried ...
I made an interesting decision, but very time consuming and costly
so there is no commercial use.

2025 ?

Look's nice Joe, that 2025 aluminum,Diablo,a round hole light scoop would be a nice scoop for my girl, can you get the 2025 with any round hole pattern,i want a 1/2 inch hole round style,i sold 1 RTG 6x11 and gave my last to a friend,Lisa has a smaller one she uses, looks like the Diablo has more pitched back plate, more angled, more foot friendly than the RTG scoops,is that correct,i just want to ask you how strong is, the mounting bracket on the head to compinsate for the torqe applied, and is this scoop made in the USA?

Thanks Earl, The holes come in just under a 1/2 inch as far as I can remember. Once all is set I will drop one off for you to borrow for a few weeks next summer..Yes, they are 100% USA Made..metal, labor ..all, right here in Baltimore..

Diablo Shmiablo.........what the heck is taking so long for this scoop to hit the market?? Is this just a side job for the creator? Seems like a whole lot of IR&D and testing, with no real commitment to a marketable product. There comes a point and time where you've got to say, "enough testing", and get some products on the market for sale. I can't think of one product out there that doesn't have continuous upgrading even years after its initial public offering.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how much revenue has been lost to RTG, Gold Scoops, Stavr, etc. over the past year. I've noticed a very large increase over the past couple of years in the beach detecting hobby...lots of beach detectors being sold, in addition to many beach hunting accessories.

There's nothing wrong with selling products now, and upgrading along the way...every viable company does it. To me, it would seem that Mr. Diablo is well off, and doesn't really care about making money on his scoop....Time is money...

Diablo Shmiablo....:foottap:

Diablo Shmiablo
That's funny, but I agree, seems like the diablo is taking for ever..it will be two years come June he started. Since the scoop is one of a kind, No Welds, he has to be 100% on the Duribility...Testing takes time... the feed back, then the changes to the software, built a couple proto's, then back to testing.....And it is his second Job, No one can make aliving selling scoops.....Most do other metal type of work...like greg..........He is not worried about losing sales to the others, because when the time comes it will be the scoop to have for all the Old Goats, Like me....

Like I have said for awhile....There are plenty of great scoops out there..don't wait on Diablo....Starv's..he has a winner

Your foot won't slip off these Diablo scoops... that was one of the nice things about it... the other at least for me I took it to one of my muddiest beaches and there was very little shaking I had to do compared to other scoops I use there... most of the time with my scoops I had to either use a float or carry the load to shore but with the Diablo a couple of light shakes and all that was left was the find and a few pebbles that couldn't fit thru the holes...

I here ya Craig sound's good,i let both Rtg scoops go,would like to try that 2025 aluminum, waiting for Joe to tell me the story with the 2025 aluminum i don't want to tare up the lip i want it to last,so are they available with a stainless heavy gage lip, this saved my rtg scoop from lip ware wright, the pitch on the back plate definately look more friendly to the foot, and also the size,of the scoop, well did you find anything at the old site?on the land hunt Earl

That is a sweet scoop. Hope it will be ready to ship when I buy one.

On a side note I would be willing to test on here in the Ga red clay at the lakes. It is rocky clay and sand mix.

I have been told they don't need a lip and Lew has been hunting with them all year and show very little signs of wear...

Those do look nice. If you dont want to wait though I would definitely recommend a Stavr...haven't heard a single negative opinion yet and the two people I've let try mine went straight out and bought one. Awesome things and not overpriced.

CfmCt-Pi diablo aluminum

Sound's like a long lasting scoop,if Lou uses it up in your territory, and doesn't ware it out, must be well made, with a durable aluminum , the 2025,the back plate with no weld's might be ? able, because that mean's an uneven surface around the outer edge's,when you step on the back plate with your foot to penatrate the sand,i hope OBN keep's us informed when the scoop is availabe,Old Beach nut what are the scoop's measurement's on the 2025:?:Earl

I'll keep everyone informed..I just hate to post about it because I'm not sure when the release date will be.... I'm with stewart73, there are plenty of great scoops out there, the stealth, stavr's...any scoop will help you dig the gold, you just have to find it..........Earl, No SS tip..seems to do well with out...I let you use one this summer.........Something to take note on, Greg has been testing his scoops also in saltwater, soaking them for months............Reason, these are MultiMetal scoops..combinations of different metals touching......Stainless steel back plate, Aluminum shell.......and a titanium back plate Aluminum shell, the one I have is SS backplate, titanium shell..........all being tested for corrosion, and 2 dissimilar metals, each at Opposite ends of the Galvanic chart. So far the 2025 T6 Aluminum has shown no signs of giving...

Raphis .if you want to do a good thing - not to hurry.
if you want a lot of money, then you have to hurry ... :)
I did a long time its most successful models.
Now I too am doing a new model Evroexcavator-3, but it will not until March. this should take the time to pass the test, refine, to pass the test ...
