Went to a school to detect with my Garrett scorpion had it leaning aginst a wall when it fell hard on the black top walkway[emoji37] now it doesn't beep. Just light clicks. The question is can this be fixed or is it done for ?

Sounds like just a loose connection on the speaker

I thought that to. Its the same headphones,no headphones. Pulled it apart didn't see any unconnected wires.

Yeah, since you got it opened...do a good visual with a mag glass or something looking for the obvious simple things first...sounds like you know this...GL...

Thats about the greatest fear a guy has when a detector is leaning up on something with a hard surface below...

Haven't had my detector fall but have had my headphones fall and lost a sand scoop. Yours sounds like there is a broken solder point around the speaker

Took it apart again and checked all the wires with a mag glass ,pulled and replaced all the battery's. Then tried it again. Still just cheeps .no beep. Can you turn the unit on without the coil hooked up? I'm gonna call Garrett Monday to see if they fix it. Hope they work on stuff this old.

Dont know about your rig, but I'm pretty sure you have to have the coil hooked up for any kind of sound to be developed...

I would think the machine needs the input from the coil to process into a tone, or else it will just sit there quiet.

Talked with myra at Garrett today and they did find a broke connection on the board .repaired it and it's on it's way home. Everyone at Garrett has been real helpful and friendly they all have southern drawl. I'm just happy it was repairable and I didn't have to buy a new one. Oh and thanks to everyone here for helping .ill be hunting next weekend .

First Texas builds em right.

I was once on a narrow ledge when I turned my ankle and dropped my F75 over the edge. It tumbled head over heals and landed in a bush below. It was scratched up pretty good, the coil cover was cracked, and the dust covers torn, but it still works. I had it tuned up after that anyway. You must have hit the concrete just right.

I got it back. It work great. Went back to the school and found a quarter,a dime and three penny's. Nothing old.
