Deleting Peoples Threads

You know, forums can be funny things. I've been a mod on one with different subject matter and you never can make everyone happy!

One of the key things is they actually are the property of the forum owner(s). Sort of like their front porch. They usually have rules and a culture of their own just like your home. Folks drop by to visit with each other but it is on the owners property still and, just like your home, they want the visitors to obey their house rules.

I've visited in homes where politics is not discussed and I honored that, In others the political discussions can get pretty warm and there I honored their ways. I wouldn't be cussing in front of my friends 4 year old girl but might let a word slip if we're a bunch of old guys having a beer after dark.

So like visiting another's home visiting a forum is, to me anyways, about trying to respect the rules they wish to use on their property. If we don't like it we don't have to come and visit but then we might miss some good company.

Some behind the scenes for you guys since I was once one. Mods usually have some serious discussions amongst each other before the trigger is pulled on anything. I don't know if that was the case in this specific instance but Rudy is understanding and thinks things through. I'd rather see a little pro-activity on the MODS part on sticky issues before something can get really heated and a full-fledged war breaks out. That could be more damaging to the friendships that have been cultivated on here, in some cases, for years.

Not everyone can agree on the same things, that's why we have Coke and Pepsi, Chevy and Ford, and Country and Rock&Roll.

The reason we have Pepsi is because we have Communists in this country!!! (Hey wait that's political! Please don't delete me!)

Now I remember why I quit all my admin and moderator jobs.......I think staff acted correctly here and I must say the restraint used in the follow ups i to be commended. It really isnt that big of a deal and I am sure a good nite's sleep will allow cooler heads to prevail. maybe

Whatever, I can see myself not being here much longer.. And I am sure MANY members here know where I'M coming from. But I guess it really doesn't matter does it! I think Im gonna go visit my buddies site! Yeah The one you guys BANNED!

I'm very surprised by the way you handled this James... all I see is drama that you have created with this thread.. it should have been handled in private... you can post where ever you wish... as to your friend he was given plenty of opportunities to abide by our rules and he chose not to...

Jb

JBexpress, this forum is the best forum around, the administrator's are fair, and do there job very well, the rules are good, just follow them,on other forum's if you say something wrong they ban you,or keep you from posting,or limit your forum access in certin area's,here it's down to earth, they just delete your thread, and correct you,it's better than getting banned trust me.This forum is set up wright, trust me i know,Great people here, good times, happy hunting Jb,Earl

You are right on Felix... we discuss issues to get a concensus and go from there... some are going to be upset with us no way around that :D

Don't burn this bridge JB... I find your company enjoyable. I remember at some point I just encouraged Admin to delete my comments if they want. After a few beers or something on the news that sets me off I have a proud reputation of being blunt, pin-headed or off my meds

They just do the job and I would most likely edit myself later if they don't. Vent if you have to and then if it crossed the line it still felt good for few minutes even if it was only the admin who read it

I like your posts too man, stick around.... Sometimes i have to step away when i see some bonehead comment, my knee jerk reaction is to fire off a blunt response, but i know it's better to step away temporarily than forever....

"i have to step away when i see some bonehead comment, my knee jerk reaction is to fire off a blunt response"

You talking about me?

It's their sandbox, they let us play for free, they make the rules. I have admin'd at other forums and P&R can really cause problems. You get two bullheaded guys arguing their opinions then it all goes downhill from there. That ain't so friendly.

I come here for MD'ing...keep the P&R for work and Facebook lol!

Why cut off your nose to spite your face? For MDing talk this is the best place around. Instead of lamenting the (very) few things we can't discuss here why not enjoy the things we can? There are 1001 other forums out there where you can discuss politics, etc. I love it here because of the absence of those topics.
