The day after my double gold hunt I started suffering with the sinus/chest congestion thing that seems to slow me down each spring and early winter.

It has taken me a couple of weeks for the last two or three years to clear away the congestion enough that I can get back to a "normal" life.

This AM I had about all the "taking it easy" I could stand and suited up in my 2 piece 7-Mil, wet suit, loaded up Mr. Dual Field and Diablo and headed to the place where I found the recent gold.

It has a sheltered cove that allows hunting with less waves when the wind is outa the W/SW. This wind will usually stir up waves that can make hunting less than fun at the local beaches!!!

My first five targets were clad dimes and then a silver Rosie to stop me from grumbling and finally a clad quarter etc.

My first ring was brass, then a silver religious medal, silver ring, a hollow silver ear-ring, a buffalo nickel, a stage coach and the little platinum ring (3.5 Gr.) with 20 diamonds and 20 sapphires!! That made my day!! The large bracelet seems to be silver, but there are no marks to verify it.

41/4 Hours into the hunt and 58 targets later I snapped out of it and decided I had better haul my old carcass home while I still could.

Things are lookin up Friends, this is only my second platinum find since 1982!!!! (The last one was a wedding band I had been asked to find.)

GL&HH To Ya all,

CJ

My wife agreed with me that it would be a great fit on her pinky!!

She still wears the first gold ring I ever found back in 1982 and I thought my first plat find should join it!!

And she agreed!!

I've been asked how it is that I have done so well water hunting on the local shore and there is no short answer!!!!!!!

There are a couple of reasons I can think of.
First--in all the years I have been water hunting (Started in 1982!) I have only encountered a half dozen or so Fellow Hunters as the hunting here can be hard work and cold, factors that go contrary to many hunters idea of having fun!!!

I found one coin from the 1700s and one 18K wedding band dated 1873 only about a hundred yards apart and both in waist deep water at low tide both within "private" beach areas today.
That means (two),--that many of the items that have been lost here have been lost over a long period of time and either just not found due to lack of a coil passing over them or perhaps they have been covered by the constantly shifting sands and await my arrival!!

As the "Resident Hunter" living in this small beach community for 42 years, I have a decided edge in complete access to the water when conditions are "right" and can monitor the constant changes that occur there!
I have made myself available to and have helped 50 people to get wedding bands, class rings and other precious jewels back from the dry/wet sand and the salt water.

Since I started I have no doubt moved a train load of sand and gravel and spent more time in the water here than any other hunter living or dead!!

The results have been hundreds of golden objects, mostly rings, recovered from all areas of the local beaches.
Simple mathematics reveal that had I been paid minimum wage for the time I have spent in hunting I would have ended up with lots more money, but I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun!!

This is the only healthful hobby I know of that will pay for itself in every way providing the hunter "gets out there and does it"!!!

I know this is a long answer and I hope it is sufficient to provide you with an adequate picture of how I have had continued success. (Which seems to be the main question!?)

Regards,

CJ
