Crusty clad day

It was foggy, rainy, and cool today. What better conditions for metal detecting/dirt fishing? Less potential for people to be at the public places so you can actually hunt it!

Today was definitely not stellar. However I did manage to find quite a bit of clad. 3 quarters, 3 dimes, 2 nickels and a mob of pennies (zinc and coppers). Found a fake ring, a washer and an odd coin. Someone had cut a cross in a penny. Any idea or reason why? *shrugs*
I did find a couple coins that were masked by iron. It was nice to find those considering the iron masking. The Legend will find things if you set it up right and learn it. All these coins have been missed by me over the years, especially the really crusty ones. They've been in the ground quite a while. Most were 4 inches or less, but one of the quarters was near 6 inches down and a dime was slightly deeper.
Would have kept on hunting but my arm was cutting up and the rain was coming down harder.

Hey that was actually a good day. I can't tell you how many hunts I have had and come away with a couple pennies and a sack full of pull tabs.

I had probably 4 modern can tabs and 3 older ring pulls today along with the coins. Also found 2 little nail tacks, a bit of aluminum. Me and my wife enjoyed it. She can't dig or bend down much anymore so I usually do the swinging, digging, and hand her the things to take a look at. Diabetes and nerve damage has really messed with her ability to enjoy certain things these days. She still enjoys going and seeing what we find. So when we go its very important to me that at least 1 quarter comes out of the ground(she enjoys those).
I think next outing we will take her X Terra Pro and I will just be the digger. *smiles* And when she is tired of swinging I will do that and dig or we can just go home. It's about more than finding things. The moments we are out like that is very important to me.

You're a good man Rob. Anything to make the little ladies lives better is great. Plus just getting out in the fresh air and moving around is good for her as well. Well done my friend, well done indeed.:waytogo:

You did better than me. I was out in the rain looking for some old home sites. The only thing I got was wet! It’s great you and your wife hunt together.

We went to another place today. This was a weird one. They had those dang cut up tire mulch down on the playground. That entire lot was littered with aluminum fragments. Only found 3 clad quarters, 2 dimes, and about 5 pennies. Also found a lot of aluminum bits. The skeeters came out and it was time to leave! They were mighty hungry this evening and really seem to enjoy my wife's blood more than mine. On the way back to the car my wife spotted a "diary" from some kid at that school. And of course she read it. Was a depressing read I hear. Ya know, when someone is in Elementary school and they write something like "my boyfriend broke up with me and nobody likes me" along with "I'm not happy with myself" it sure puts a sour taste in your mouth. There was no name in the book but you can't help but feel 2 ways about it. #1- The last thing a girl should worry about is a dang stupid boyfriend when she is in elementary school! and #2- You really wonder about her well-being. Obviously the girl's in a bad way. Somebody needs to share with her the fact you don't need anybody else to validate who you are! You don't need someone else's acceptance, and it's ok to NOT "be with someone" if they don't care about your or respect you.
That was sort of a downer of a trip today.
