Hand sanitizer is easily made. It’s basically 70% isopropyl alcohol and a bit of “goop” to give it some feel - glycerine works fine as the goop - craft stores probably have it. Avoid so called “denatured” alcohol unless you are sure there is no methanol in the blend.

70% gets sold out quick. If you have a place that sells vetinary supplies like Tractor Supply, they carry it in gallon jugs.

Here’s the WHO recepie for the sanitizer - it starts with 99% so just don’t add the water to your 70%

The virus isn’t airborne per se - it’s only droplets shed by coughing, Sneezing or nose blowing or running If you are within 6 - 10 feet you might inhale it or get it on your face etc. Shaking hands, hugging, etc can transfer the virus directly to you. Also touching a surface with the virus on it will likely get it on your hands.

The virus needs to get to your eyes, nose or mouth to infect you. The main way it does that (besides directly inhaling droplets) is transfer from hands to face.

I have been wearing light work gloves for several days now around the house and nitrile gloves when out in public. The main reason I do this is to train myself not to touch my face unless I am sure my hands are sterile. I’m 74 and in good health, but I’d like to see lots more seasons so I am being careful.
 
Not sure why so many people blame the media, and say they are scaring people, etc. Most of the news articles I see or read about this are laying out the information as they get it, and often reminding people to stay calm, and that healthy people will usually be OK. They also are stressing the steps to hamper the spread, which is a good thing, and many reports are asking us to not be panic shoppers, and are warning folks against scammers, who prey on panic buyers.
I happen to be one of those with "underlying conditions", in the respiratory category, so I am concerned. The "no big deal" crowd aren't helping slow this thing down, and the "$300 face mask" people should be imprisoned.
Please, just take hand washing, crowd avoiding, etc. a little more seriously. Be reasonable about it, but help out. Thank you!

I’m rarely going out and stay away from people when detecting.

Friend is home from college on spring break. She was just told not to come back this semester due to the virus. The closed the college

President Trump is gonna adress the nation tonight on the Coronavirus,hope for some good news cause Walmart’s out of hand soap and toilet paper here too.:laughing:

My town is out of everything to. Hope they get some toilet paper in soon them dam pine cones hurt :laughing:

For those complaining about their portfolios and 401k getting decimated... take comfort in knowing the money isn't gone. It didn't evaporate. It's just been transferred to someone else's account using derivatives, leverage, insider info/manipulation..
11 year "bull" market driven by rates and money printing and stock buy backs.

You don't need a letter from JPM to know what happens next do you? ;)

Time to shut down the stock market for a month or two. No one should be profiting off of this so called pandemic by shorting stocks.
 
Bright side: if you start coughing and hacking at the beach, people quit coming up and asking dumb questions while you are trying to detect:)
