Chuck is making progress with his new scoop design

I bought a stealth extreme with the small hole option at the bottom corner. I bought it because I was tired of losing targets to wave action and wanted to take the biggest one or two bites scoop I could. Well, I never could take a scoop of sand and shake it to reveal the target like I see on YouTube videos. The sand will not escape through the holes quick enough. And now with the Manticore, I’m digging pull tab rivets that sneak out the holes on the extreme I’m thinking cause it takes so many scoops to get the target. Just can’t win.

My new design is a killer! Those days are over!

Hello Crumble,
Your comment has me puzzled. Would you clarify please?

1 - What year did you buy the Scoop?
2 - Did you request a repair under warranty?
3 - If you did not request a repair, why?
4 - Do you happen to have a picture of the damaged scoop?

As the designer and manufacturer of the Stealth, I never had one fail like you say. It is possible the person who welded the unit did a poor job (and possibly by the current owner in California). By the way, Peter the current owner continued with the lifetime warranty and as far as I know, he followed through.

I worked hard to design and build the very best scoop possible and thought I had built a bullet proof reputation.

Since I am going back into the scoop manufacturing business, I had hoped my reputation would follow me

Thank You,
Chuck

I bought it from Amazon, and returned it after it bent in multiple places in one hunt. Probably about 6 years ago. It was tough conditions, I was digging in straight rocks. The issue is the flat bends, and light gauge steel used. You either need heavy gauge steel and flat walls (Nuttall), or "slightly" lighter gauged steel and rounded walls. Round is always stronger than flat sides. I now use a stainless Extreme Scoop and am amazed that it still looks new after the the rocks I have dug through. Even the Nuttall I ended up destroying after many many targets dug in rocks... welds in the center spine ended up splitting.

I'll give your new scoop a chance, I always like to support USA made.

Are you sure you are talking about a Stealth scoop ? Because I've never seen one made out of the thinner gauge steel. I saw a couple scoops that looked liked they were run over by a truck when I was at the factory and those were heavy gauge. I had the 720i for about 7 years and I hunt the same rock beaches as you. Looked like new when I sold it. And I'm sure you've seen how I destroy scoops.

Hello KOB,
It is looking like it was not a Stealth. I do not know of the new owner selling on Amazon and I never did. I'm just saying

Chuck

Crumbles you can go to "returns and orders" up in the right hand corner of your screen when logged in at Amazon and check past order history to see if it was a Stealth. Amazing they have my purchase history back 10 years ago.

My bet is your digging a lot of gold and sand bagging on us. :kingdances:

For me targets have dried up. I’ve tried a variety of detectors. Storms flushed 6 feet of sand. Need fresh drops but so many more detectorists with time on their hands. The beaches I hunt are nice and I need the exercise. Maybe I should try parks….

Had to look through my emails, I bought it directly from Sunspot in 2016, and returned to Sunspot after one use.

Wonder if Chuck could make a 12 gage 316 SS scoop , might be indestructible :?: What's the bosses' thoughts. :wow:

Earl, most hunters like a light scoop. When designing a product you need to consider all buyers and try to hit the sweet spot for the 90% of hunters. Actually my first design is done and I am using it in Brasil now. Small changes will be incorporated in the final production design.
I think I have hit the sweet spot, time will tell

Thanks,
Chuck

In my case lightness doesn't matter , some hunters down South want a wider scoop & are used to digging with T-Rex , I also- the 2nd time I mentioned the deck height- 6 inches so the rings don't flow over the top , Titanium is expensive , hard to work with , so I would rather have a good quality 316 SS scoop , all mine current, are only 306 SS , Have fun in Brazil , maybe a sneak peak with some Brazilian Digger Girls 4 your Scoop Line Kick Off :lookclose::cheer:
