:lol:Just for a change can television companies produce a realistic portrayal of what detecting is really about. Of course you can expect some banter exchange and waving of arms when a good find has been made but if the preview is anything like the real thing for me it's a switch off and not a switch on! I guess if you were to go out on an average day with a detectorist there wouldn't be a lot worth recording so for the viewing public you have to hype it up a bit! How about this for a suggestion, get a few of the forum's more experienced folk working as teams to produce a video? I'm sure the results would be far more interesting? If nothing else it would help us put a face to a name!!!

Not gonna happen! A. You have to keep people entertained B. Some of us cuss like sailors. C. Whenever someone on a detecting show gets a positive result, they amplify it and are no longer themselves. Case in point! Diggers found out jibber jabber got some talking about the show going on. Now instead of looking at what they are digging, you have to read a description of some new made up word, that takes two paragraphs to figure out what the hell these guys just said. But when the guy was digging with a Garrett rep he was normal:lol D. Stick to youtube. You only got one commercial at the beginning!

less talk more action

Watched two episodes last night. Wasn't impressed. I do not need to see teams talking about how much money they are going to get or who's going to win. More actual finding and digging. Everyone had a box full of stuff and we only saw a few clips of digging the big stuff. Then off to the appraiser. Like that's the first thing we all do after finding something old. It's not about how much something is worth too most of us. It's the thrill of finding it. Wasn't that different than "Diggers"

One of the members of the show is a forum owner. Many of his members are the rudest people I've ever come across. The owner himself has been described as a racist. He ran a group dig that gave out replica slave tags as mementos of the hunt. UFB. He's a forum operator that has let his ownership go to his head, banning anyone who disagrees with him or breaks any of his rules. Many of his members do nothing but praise the show. Bunch of brown-nosed sheep.
OK, I feel better now.

Which one, who is he and what forum?

Wow... no middle grounders??? lol

LOVED the clips. It's TV. So what if we don't get to hunt those spots.

Great opportunity of a lifetime for those guys.

Just glad nobody got blown to ... well ... pull tab, can slaw, hell. Hahahahaha.

The biggest problem I have with the show, is they make no mention of the fact that the sites they hunt will get a normal person arrested if he/she tries to hunt them. I wonder how many new people have a metal detector on the way so they can head to Gettysburg to find some treasure...

I really enjoy watching Ron's Youtube clips, but when he didn't have any updates there for an extended time I was really worried that another TV show was the reason. I don't watch TV, so I have not see the show, but IMO any TV publicity to this hobby is bad publicity! These "reality" shows totally destroyed the storage auctions and I fear they will do the same to detecting.

It is very comforting to know our Friendly Administrator is fully engaged and informed about one of the most important issues shaping the public opinion of our hobby, and its future.

Because he has a say, and an "in" with the folks that put this BS on TV, right...

Terry, do you post like this just to stir sh**, I mean the pot or what?!?

I don't watch much TV, just better things to do, and really too much about entertainment, not interest or informative.

Metal detecting, is a form of treasure hunting, and to the TV masses, treasure is about monetary value. For most of us pursuing the hobby, the real treasure, is in the experience of finding stuff. The vast majority of us, aren't getting rich, and can't really claim to be finding more than we put into the hobby, and would do much better flipping burgers for minimal wage. We have hopes and dreams of making an incredible find, just like lottery players have hopes and dreams about that huge jackpot. The TV shows play on those hopes and dreams, that's what attracts people to the hobby, and what will attract people to watching the shows. It's the fantasy aspect, where the viewer puts himself into the show, and lives the dream, for a few minutes. How many of us dream about getting out there and finding pull tabs, bottle caps, and rusty nails? Dream killers, and will never sell a TV show. If you want reality, you have to turn off the TV, get out and live it for yourself...

I didn't realize what I do in my private life is any of your business... you are such a drama queen...

All he is doing is making sure you see his free ad he posted at #13. And now he is gonna make sure this thread gets more hits so you can see what a stand up guy he is. Only problem is he appears to like to pick on people, then play the victim. But since we are here, i'd like to know if he paid for that truckload of GPX 5000's? Or did he take a perk himself? Trying to figure out what shade the pot is talking to the kettle! Maybe he can kick in a little something for ad space so that isn't a perk?

Terry can have his opinion on the show
