BUT, if it had a meter more would sell imo. Folks now days are used to having a screen. IMO, that's one of the reasons the CTX is the detector of choice for a lot of beach hunters. Pinpoint, screen, saltwater doesn't cause falsing. 1500 bucks, me thinks you would be one of the first in line. You're correct, FT would sell a lot of them. I for one would welcome new technology.
I don't think the screen is why folks love CTX for beach hunting- gold depending on size can come in at lots of conductivy readings.
Rather its waterproofing, stability, discrimination capabilities.
And for dual purpose say beach hunting and dry land coin hunting.
For instance, wonder if Minelab would have released a CTX like they did- with screen for the price they did.
And wonder if they would have released a CTX just like the one they did, but no TiD numbers displayed period, but with tonal adjustment based on conductivy of target.
But this detector would have been priced at $1000.
Think Minelab would have sold any of these???
Now if silver coinage or silver jewelry didn't exist I would agree with you.
Maybe I need to ask here.
Beach hunters, "Are you passing on higher conductive meter reading targets while beach hunting"??
On a beach in Florida, any nonferrous target could be a tremendous find!!
And imagine if Minelab would have engineered where this $1000 detector could have had screen, or allowed tid to be added for a price through accessory add on purchase.
Minelab sure could have reached more of the detecting public this way IMO.
But here comes the Equinox.
So water under the bridge.
Detector manufacturer mindset should be.
Not everyone can afford a Ferrari.
Not everyone can afford a BMW, but more can afford BMW vs a Ferrari.
So get folks into a BMW, and with time folks may be able to go to Ferrari status.
I think Minelab understands this now,
Hence Equinox 600 and Equinox 800 models.
