Can Crushers

You probably spent more money on Can crushing products then you ever got scraping all the cans in your life.

Bring them to a state with the machines for a nickel and get your money, they will work.

Nope! Tried it! The damndest deal is on this whole charade, the Can Scanners only honor the UPC barcode kickback if the beverage was ORIGINALLY purchased in the State of its issue!! What a kick to the pills! A guy pulls a bag of cans, thinks I'm in high cotton, hauls them in, and upon a redemption attempt, the machine will not accept them! So yeah...you have to redeem cans in the State of their original purchase...

They were brought in here from some Ohio/Indiana tourist!:laughing: Being a Cannie is not as easy as a guy would think...still, at a buck per day average, WTH?...All a guy has to do is empty one sixpack himself and find four wild ditch stragglers...Its like finding a Merc dime per day in essence.....

Large wooden mallet and a tree stump.

And cans.

Place can on stump, with one swing, crush as thinly as possible.

the volunteer fire department used to raise money this way at the summer field days.

the contestant would pay something like a dime, and an empty beer or soda can was placed on the stump.

contestant would have one swing to crush the can.

if the crushed can fell through a slot cut into a board, the contestant won a six-pack of beer.

fun times!

Options for can disposal in our small town

1. Throw them in the trash
2. Drive 35 miles to a can crusher machine, nickel per can
3. Donate to the next town over to help pay for their fireworks next year
4. Cut the tops off and make a solar heater for the house. :D

every morning line a few up under your tires before backing out .
Pick them up upon return and repeat. 👍

Your post reminded me a long time ago I actually tried taking a trash bag full of uncrushed cans under a piece of plywood slanted over it and driving over it, results..... a very few cans got slightly crushed, a lot of cans simply flew out and scattered

Next I tried using a sledge hammer to crush bags of cans, worked a little better but still had to crush a lot of cans individually, VERY time consuming

Hence the homemade can crusher I mentioned in an earlier post, as long as I keep up with crushing cans as I get them and don't let uncrushed cans accumulate too much then it is so much easier

Just for fun I searched for unusual can crushers, if you want to make crushing cans a REALLY FUN thing to do you could try this one :laughing::laughing:

(personally I wouldn't go thru all that, but it is fun to watch though )

Now that person has too much time on their hands, and in the end it did a lousy job of crushing, but like you said, still fun to watch.

I saw these today at the flea market for $6

In FL aluminium is not worth my time though. Only base metal ill touch is copper.

How efficient are these things?

Very, depending how tightly you build them, and the location/amount of sunlight that hits them. You'd want to damper them off during dark times.

Ever run a garden hose that's been laying in the summer sun?

I'd always planned to build a solar oven, but never have.

Yep, I have the solution...the crusher...all steel construction.

That's the one I recommended earlier in this thread...

Can't be beat.. Even 24oz, just twist em shorter like wringing out a towel before crushing...

<°)))>{

Not sure why I read this 'cause I never drink anything that comes in an Aluminum can.
