MoBob and I got out today for a hunt at the field he scouted out last weekend. It did not disappoint! My first target was a roundball and that set the tone for my day. Think I ended up with about a dozen, and added a flat piece of camp lead too. Bob got about a dozen too with a couple minnie balls to boot. But the find of the day was Bob's big silver! About halfway through the hunt Bob hollered for me. I came over and saw the beautiful site of a silver rim! He pulled it out and I was thinking maybe silver dollar. Even better it was seated! Bob pulled a sweet 1858 seated half -- O mint mark! We were thinking how much that could buy that solder back in the day. What a find! Big congrats buddy! It was a great hunt! Oh if anybody has an idea of the piece of lead Bob found with the letters on it, let us know. I'm thinking maybe a slice off a lead bar used for casting bullets. One of the roundballs I found still has a casting rim around it. Thanks for looking and HH
